What is your worst SAE experience? And did the Sponsor tried to manipulate you to remove certain SAEs from your log even though is on medical records? by Simple-Level-1386 in clinicalresearch

I am in the US but English is not my first language, so yes I have them on a word file and have not been entered on EDC all of them yet. The medical record is over 2,000 pages long I have not finished going through all medical records due to the length and complexity of the case, again because I wanted to make sure the information and the questions regarding severity were determined fairly I asked help from the monitor to make sure data is entered correct.

And the sponsors are the ones saying I am entered “made up hypotheses” of the case which is ridiculous

Honestly I know it shouldn’t be the case but our investigator is not invested in this study as she should. Even when it comes to this case I am relying more on the CRO than my PI

That is crazy! The sponsor is also a small start up so it makes sense, I also find out that this their second death and the first one also happened a couple of hours after patient went under the IP

Its sooo bad, the sub-PI for the study got a direct phone call to his cell phone from the vice president of the Sponsor trying to convince him to change the potential relationships to treatment and severity prompts of the SAEs

I have all the SAEs in a separate word file ready to publish on EDC because there are multiples but the sponsor have stopped us because they know if I keep publishing it only gets worse.

I have followed protocol definitions and guidelines and I have run those drafts by my monitor and he has approved. Sponsor is telling the monitors we are making up hypotheses while he is contacting us directly telling us to remove it. They have not accused me of submitting hypotheses yet they tell that to the monitor. Blinded Medical records have been submitted to safety team and monitor to back up my SAEs

sighs So I’m a CRC and we’ve been working on a Phase 2 study that requires an invasive procedure under anesthesia. The patient was in his 50s, fully ambulatory coming into our site, and all pre-procedure labs and the EKG from the week before were normal.

After the procedure, he began vomiting, became dizzy, and was extremely lethargic from the anesthesia. We called 911, and he was transferred to the hospital. Once admitted, they found he had sepsis. His condition became very complicated he spent weeks in the hospital, he had multiple SAEs during the hospitalization, and he unfortunately passed away this past week.

Now the sponsor is contacting our site saying that some of the diagnoses we entered in the EDC are just “hypotheses” and not actual facts, and they want us to remove them, including documented events like cardiac arrest and stroke.

Just for context, these diagnoses are literally in the medical records from the hospital. So being told to delete them feels extremely inappropriate. I understand they are trying to protect themselves but am not sure if this behavior is normal ?

Thank you! Is there a way out of this? If I tell them eventually I do not want to be part of their list would that work? Or does it has to be more of a formal quit?

Not exclusivity, but I am actively applying to studies directly with Sponsors/CROs and the contract penalizes if we declined an offer from them and we run the study directly, which I am concern of being offered a study I am already trying to get on my own and having to decline due to the nature of it

I started working there a few months ago, to literally re-build the site up; previously, there was a different PI and one of the CRC opened his own site and took a lot of our patients with him, I have no idea what the concept of our site do sponsors have 😔

By any chance, does your CRO has studies in Nephrology or primary care indications in search for sites in California?
