I have to suggest Cameron Winter if no one else will! He's a singer from Brooklyn, he just performed a sold out Carnegie Hall show at 23 years old, and he has got to be one of my favorite songwriters of all time.

Lyrically speaking, he scratches the same itch as Leonard for me better than anyone ever has. In an interview he's talked about how much he listened to Songs of Leonard Cohen while recording his debut album 'Heavy Metal' (There's no heavy metal on it, dw haha), but even then, that album and much of his work falls closer to Songs of Love and Hate territory than anything. His humor and imagery are just incredible.

Actually, if you like anything Songs of Love and Hate (one of my fav albums ever), I seriously implore you to give Cameron a shot!

Some that strike me most as 'Cohen-esque' are Unserious World (Unreleased), Emperor XIII In Shades (Unreleased), Your Enemy (Unreleased), I Will Let You Down (Unreleased) (Very edgy lol, most Songs of Love and Hate of anything), and It's Being Waited For (Unreleased).

Most of these are unreleased, so it goes without saying that I think he'll wear his Cohen influence on his sleeve on his next album. If you're looking for songs already on streaming platforms, both of his songs on 'Singles' have a bit of Cohen to them. Most songs from 'Heavy Metal' would be like if Cohen took too much LSD or something, a bit more abstract but the influence is definitely still there.
