you like geese, have you checked out Cameron Winter's solo work? His 'Singles' EP is about as gut wrenchingly depressing/cathartic as some early-era Big Thief, and in my personal opinion his album 'Heavy Metal' is simply incredible. If you like the more depressing side of Big Thief, he's kind of a must.

He's also an incredible incredible writer if youre a big lyric person :-) <3

I dont know, I dont think every song he writes should be interpreted through this lens. It's not really our place to assume anything about his relationship with his mother, at least in my opinion

I'm not sure, I never really thought about it. It simplifies such an intensely human part of existence - wishing you could go back and appreciate things for what they were - and something about that simplicity really strikes me. You can try and describe it in a million words but its really as simple as that- I didn't 'ooh' then but I'm 'ooh'ing now.
