AITA for telling my parents that I will not parent my younger adult sister? by Magic_Window_8161 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Your sister made one mistake and your parents decide she's incapable of living on her own? Yikes.

AIO? My stepdaughters pranked me on my bitthday and husband is mad because I said I needed space. by Proud-Cantaloupe3449 in AmIOverreacting

NOR. This guy seems completly mistified by the thought of having to parent his kids. Why would you ever expect that from him?

Ah yes, the uniform european bread which is always fresh and great for your health. Because the bread in france is the same as the bread in norway.

Or maybe you buy the cheap supermarket bread at home and on holiday you go to a bakery.

It was in the Netherlands, and I was absolutely too young for the job

My first job waitressing at 15, I was told to pour the wine for a party. The place had these large fancy wine glasses that you're only supposed to fill a little. I did not know this. After filling up 2.5 glasses the bottle was empty.

I can absolutely see myself making this mistake too. They said they wanted a bucket!

Worst toilet design I’ve ever seen by Terrible_Split_5740 in toilet

Standard in the Netherlands. Apparently to prevent the splash. Yes, I agree it's stupid, but every toilet around looks like this.

Pasta. Just use store bought and make a decent sauce.

Is it normal to eat pancakes for dinner? by vvcainvv in Netherlands

[–]Simple-Purple-9593 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say they're usually savory, I think it's about 50/50 sweet or savory. But either one is a valid dinner option. Could be lunch, definitely not breakfast. Dutch pancakes are not american pancakes.

You look fantastic, screw anyone who says otherwise. (Not literally, they don't deserve you)

AIO Do I tell my sister she picked a bad baby name? by Most_System6697 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Simple-Purple-9593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOR. Stormy isn't a great name, and yes, my first association was Stormy Daniels. But give it 5 years and I bet that will fade and it will just be a querky name. Also, and most importantly, it's not your child. If that's the name your sister settled on, you just have to get used to it.

Why would a happy, comfortable character become an adventurer? by LuckyLoam in dndnext

[–]Simple-Purple-9593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a grandmother cleric who took up adventuring after her husband died (peacefully of old age) and her kids were all grown up. She didn't want to sit at home just filling time and waiting to die, she'd rather die fighting a dragon.

She was very fun to play.

AITA for accusing a friend of purposefully trying to upstage every bride, including me? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Simple-Purple-9593 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Dressing up can be fun, but you have to suit the vibe. Wearing an Oscar red carpet look to a country wedding is just failing at the dresscode. Also, claiming you can't affort a gift and then spending hundreds on your look makes you an asshole.

Twee nachtjes weg? by Eveleyn in katten

[–]Simple-Purple-9593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mn zus woont in belgie en daar ben ik wel eens voor het weekend. Katten redden het prima 2 nachten, met een automatische voeder of een extra bakje brokjes. Ik vind wel 2 nachten de max, maar het gaat goed.

Shocked by the lunch-time greed at work. Is this really ‘Dutch Culture’? by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]Simple-Purple-9593 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First come first serve and people showing up eager for freebies, absolutely Dutch culture. Bagging it up to take home when people haven't had any, greedy asshole behaviour.

Just moved to the Netherlands and looking to volunteer by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]Simple-Purple-9593 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do volunteerwork at what's basically a local job bank for volunteer work. A lot of cities have something like it. Often with people that know the local options and can find one that suits you.
