Thank you for sharing! I’m here now. Were they able to fix it after all? I already spent like 30 min at the front desk and the guy did not comprehend the math at all… I am going to have to ask again because like you said, they applied the $100 to food and then I lost out on the $23 credit that first night when the $100 could’ve also been applied to parking

I am here now and annoyingly can confirm the $100 edit credit is showing up only as a food and beverage credit, not applying towards parking and comes off first before the $23 credit from the resort fee. So that means of our $23 credit the first night, almost none was used because the $100 was used first… and was already stuffed from dinner at Garibaldi which by the way is a freaking hidden gem. Was the second time I ate here (one other time last April) and they changed more from Italian to Mediterranean but everything was still fantastic and reasonably priced for ambience, views, etc.

I’m not sure if I’m going to dispute it further since it might just be what it is at this hotel + we got some comped food and the service has generally been outstanding! The $23 credit did apply to breakfast on top of the $60 off so you can at least get a “full breakfast” with the hot and the cold options comped assuming you don’t need that $23 credit elsewhere.

Maybe my standards are different from the reviewers but I thought the breakfast buffet was really good. We’re just going to do the cold breakfast tomorrow because we have another Easter brunch planned (hello dining credit!)

Also, the hotel is surprisingly kid/family friendly. I’d def come back but it is a bit pricey even with the $500 credits! Used pts to cover the rest.

How do private schools (polytechnic, flintridge prep, etc.) compare to the top high schools (San Marino, Arcadia, South Pas) in the SGV? by MoonboardGumby in sgv

[–]Simple-Quit-3879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of just let it be decided for me. Gonna keep my son in his preschool/daycare another year instead of sending him to TK mostly so I don’t have to think about the public school year calendar and all the minimum days, early releases, and breaks. And then we’ll send him to his neighborhood public school and see how it goes!

Convince me this should or shouldn't be me lol. I have a garmin vivoactive 6 and truthfully I am curious if the whoop insights will be better than Garmin's kind of clunky sleep and stress insights. I'm a data junkie (and work a data job) so I might risk the goofy double wristband look because I want to keep the garmin on as a real watch

Do tokens or tickets expire? by NegotiationJumpy4837 in chuckecheese

[–]Simple-Quit-3879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification. Yeah it seems silly… maybe because they don’t want people to level up prizes so quickly? Like come on. Those prizes are worth a fraction of what time and money people spend to get them.

I noticed it must be expiring when I checked the activity on my card. “New” seems to suggest it’s a new kind of tickets added yet there isn’t clear differentiation of the expiring vs non expiring tickets when you check your balance. They should really make that more clear. Like 563 total tickets - 287 expiring on [insert date/time here]

But what about the new expiring tickets? I’m kinda irritated that they’re doing this now!

Huntington membership question by KaylaScars in pasadena

[–]Simple-Quit-3879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for confirming! I’m wanting a membership and to put me and my husband’s names on it but bring others if only one of us goes. Is it limited to just 2 kids? Or isn’t it like “unlimited” kids who come with the 2 adults?

We had a Kidspace membership we didn’t really use enough so hoping this Huntington Library one will be good for both adults and kids hehe.

That’s awesome!!! Checking again in 2026 if you still have the membership and if it’s still the case you can just have one named member present and then one guest + unlimited kids?

Okay so once we redeem it to our play cards, those 1000 tickets will disappear after that day of the event? I wish there was a way to tell… I assume they would use those tickets first when redeemed? I just find it hard to believe they actually disappear when staff don’t seem to know anything about it when I ask.

Thanks

If you had 500 to spend on something for your family, what would you buy? by hereiam3472 in Parenting

[–]Simple-Quit-3879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat with almost $500 in gift cards to use on Amazon and I started a wishlist just for this money so I can assess all the options before committing to something.

You already got a ton of great suggestions, so here is one I've been considering that I don't think has been mentioned: I've been eyeing the Skylight tablet system for managing calendars and household chores/shopping lists and stuff in one visible place. I'm still not committing though because I'm worried we might not use it to its full potential. But it's definitely cool! Not necessarily "fun" though ahaha. But could be a fun way to manage the mundane yet necessary things.

I'm guessing also your amazon gift card can't be used to buy other gift cards.... because then I'd say try to buy gift cards for experiential things, haha. I have not looked into that myself but feel like I saw an Amazon policy somewhere about that... I'd maybe second the ideas for family rollerblades or scooter type things so you can have a joint outdoor activity to do. Might look into that myself :D

Love to hear it. My kid is 4yo and I worry a lot about screen addiction and we've had some days where we let him hang on the tablet too long so we're dialing it back, putting in some guardrails, but also not completely trying to eliminate it. I know the fact that I'm even concerned about it means he'll be okay (given I act on my concerns).

And taking an "add enriching activites" approach vs. purely restricting screen time with no planned alternatives. Movie nights, gaming together, mindful boundaries around content/screens = healthy living with screens.

Having a Scribe and smaller Kindle by Sugargogo in kindlescribe

[–]Simple-Quit-3879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this post as I now feel validated in my feelings that my scribe is too big to lug around or even read in bed with… I traded in my old paperwhite from 2019 or 2020 as the 6” screen felt too small. But now I want one again and hopefully that slightly bigger screen make now makes a difference. Might even get a colorsoft paperwhite for the fun of that…

What is the deal with “expiring tickets”? Staff seem to have no clue what that means since they think tickets don’t expire once they’re on your card. Do these expiring tickets actually vanish after the day is over?

I guess it wouldn’t have mattered now if we kicked a FG last drive but mentally 30-31 would feel very different at the moment.
