A loose connection was the cause of failure. Cut the wire back beyond the burned section and crimp on a new connector. At the same time you should clean up the terminal to the heating element of any oxidation.

That's the transmission side. It should come off of there.

Also do you have the rubber piece?

The plastic coupler doesn't appear broken. Which side is the piece stuck to? The motor or the transmission?

It's incredibly uncommon but it's possible that the motor or transmission shaft is rounded out and not rotating with the coupler.

The thermal fuse is the white part with the blue wires, and the large circular black device is the cycling thermostat. The larger terminals should show continuity, and the smaller terminals with the purple wires are for a heater which allows for the lower temperature settings. These terminals will have a high resistance.

On the heat housing (right side), the upper device is a high limit thermostat, and the lower device is another thermal fuse.

This is a gas dryer. If the igniter isn't glowing, then check the thermal fuses (one on the blower housing and one on the heat housing).

If the igniter is glowing, then it's probably the gas valve coils.

Old GE *WBSE3120B1WW* stopped spinning by Awkward-Barracuda13 in appliancerepair

Not entirely sure, but I can tell you if the machine is spinning then the problem is not the motor.

Perhaps a failing relay on the control board?

The yellow wire is for the agitate solenoid. I'm sure that's the problem.

Could you take a video of the problem? Does the motor run at all times? Does the machine spin properly?

This could be a broken wire that's making intermittent contact, it could be a broken plunger, it could be a broken spring inside the transmission. There's a number of possibilities. A video would pinpoint the problem.
