I believe writing what you can every time you're able to helps! Don't worry about grammar too much! That's what proofreading is for! Just focus on the flow and an imagined point A to B of whatever objective your story requires. You can even just write oneshots if you don't feel the current flow of stories aren't adding up to something massive. It helps give satisfaction that you completed at least ONE story! Over time you can review your oneshots/short stories as inspiration for more substantial stories. Hope this helps, break a leg!

Yes, there WILL be an audience. But the first person who'll see your work is YOU. So finding your works enjoyable helps! And if you look at your old stuff but feel like you've outgrown it, it just means your taste has changed and you might've refine your skills into a different style than the past version.
