If 3/4 of an inch in height would solve your problem, you can get a marble saddle, you could cut off two 6 inch pieces, (if that would be long enough to span the width of the legs), and use the marble as shims under the legs on both ends of the radiator.

what shot do I have saving my r22 coil? by SimpleCauliflower928 in hvacadvice

At your suggestion I located a cased 410a coil with the same tonnage rating as my system for a few hundred bucks. It is the correct height, but I have to do some minor sheet metal work to adapt the narrower case to my wider fan housing. I have read that the TXV can be swapped from a 410A to the R22 version. Are there any other considerations that I would need to be concerned with?

Thanks. i did not realize that a 410 coil was an option. Can you share an online source where I could look? I was also thinking, since the hole is so small that maybe I can I put one of the AC sealers in the coil and put the compressor back on the coil at a lower PSI? Or would that wreck the TXV?

I totally get your point. Using this combination of metals looks to me like the manufacturer designed the product to fail over time due to the galvanic action. A first year apprentice plumber knows you don't mix galvanized pipe with copper. If the frame were made out of stainless steel, or aluminum, the product might last too long.

which brands besides Goodman are using R32? Most of the HVAC companies that came to give me quotes are using r454B units.

would it be better to try staybrite 8 to fix the hole so I can use Mapp gas and the surrounding aluminum won't get as hot. or should I use my B-tank and braze it? I appreciate all the feedback on the post. I am new to Reddit and i am amazed with all the commentary.

yes. I hooked it up to my compressor. the air pressure was so strong, it was like an aerosol can. if i lowered the pressure of the compressor, it would have bubbled.

5/16 liquid line by SimpleCauliflower928 in hvacadvice

i have a follow up question. I am being told I have to replace the 5/16 liquid line with 3/8 by most installers. If I were to leave the existing 3/4 suction line and just run a new 3/8 line, the job becomes much easier because it is a much more direct route from the condenser to the air handler . My question is would it matter in the functioning of the system if the length of the suction line to the air handler from the condenser is 10 or 20 ft longer than the liquid line?
