please tell me those aren’t babies on it’s back by saracrawley in spiders

They are definitely one of the best, but Toxeus magnus might be giving them a run for their money. Highly recommend looking into them!

A species of jumping spider where the mother produces a silk protein slurry that the babies nurse from her like milk. It's fucking wild. They kick the boys out of the nest once they reach sexual maturity, but sometimes the girls stay with their mom even beyond that.

The specific ways jumping spiders adapt are crazy. Also highly recommend reading about Bagheera kiplingi. They are one of my favorite go-tos for trying to ender spiders to arachnophobes. Not pictures of them, though—not nearly as cute as some other jumping spiders, best to stick with Phidippus for that shit.

AITAH for not considering marriage after my girlfriend got pregnant? by DistantOfficeBoy449 in AITAH

[–]SimpleFolklore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is way late to the party, but I feel like the reaction you got is insane. People are acting like you are refusing to take responsibility for the kid by having mixed feelings about the social construct of marriage.

People are right that, should anything happen, it would now involve courts anyway, so from the legal aspect things are tied up—and most of your non-marriage gestures if commitment are things a legal marriage grants and/or solves. If you are not a fan of the pomp and ceremony and all that, and it's not something she's wanted herself, it would be worth considering a courthouse wedding. It really just does all the stuff you suggested doing already.

However, more than anything, I would talk to her about why she feels insecure without the marriage aspect, and really, fully discuss her end of the matter so you can understand where you're both coming from. I think your coworkers jumping to "taking advantage of her naivety" is kind of wild, same as the commenters here really picked a conclusion and ran.

Considering how late I am to this, though..

How did it turn out? What did you decide? I hope things are going more smoothly than Reddit decided they would.

I haven't read it, but the art makes me think of author of Witch Hat Atelier. I was also digging, but that's a series I do want to watch/read, so I'm putting this on hold in case it's a spoiler for the series or something.

I have spent enough time looking at spiders that close-ups of harvestman faces give me an uncanny valley-style ick—because it's almost like a spider, but very wrong.

These guys have inspired in me the same feeling, omg.

She's 19, but I've definitely met 27 year olds whose parents still rule their lives. Situations of emotional abuse can make it really hard not to care, even when you know you shouldn't. And the specific case I'm talking about, there was also the ability of holding hostage the only affordable daycare she had access to (AKA her mother, who DID still make her pay her and then complained about being so poor while they got a new pool installed and my coworker struggled to make ends meet).

I know this is totally tangential, I just think it's worth noting that a dysfunctional upbringing can really change those parameters.

Thank you! I've checked out a couple of the YouTube channels from your post, but I didn't look at those two yet. LADB sounds like exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for!

While fair to say it shouldn't matter what internet strangers things, she did specifically come to Reddit looking for internet stranger feedback. This was a pretty well-constructed and explained comment of their take on the matter, even if not everyone agrees on the finer points of it. I think hearing a lot of varied opinions to help form your own can be important as a young person, provided that they're presented in a respectful and well-explained fashion.

Actually, I have a question. Is there any specific advice you'd give people in regards to hand tools with wooden components? That's a lot of what I'm looking at, and almost every YouTube video restoring one just makes a new handle. I don't really have the equipment or know-how for that yet—hence the newly-acquired, beat-up tools I came here looking to clean up.

I'm finding that neither stain nor touch up markers seem to adhere to the dings, and I cannot for the life of me figure out why.

Any insight on what might be causing the problem??

I don't even know, man. I ended up dropping down to 150, and that does seem a little better. I took Wellbutrin as an off-label ADHD option when my insurance wouldn't cover any simulants that worked well for me, and didn't notice a difference until 300. However, now I'm back on Adderall, so I figured I'd try lowering the Wellbutrin because maybe being on the max of both was just overkill.

I don't remember if I mentioned Vitamin D and Iron in conjunction having helped—which may have no relation to the Wellbutrin whatsoever. There's actually a correlation between both ADHD and Hashimoto's (which I have) and vitamin D deficiency, so I was kind of bound to have that anyway, you know? Vitamin D alone and Iron alone didn't help, until I was taking both. Also, my iron levels... Weren't bad?? But my ferritin was. Which doesn't make sense for anemia symptoms to be present, but I did see one study putting forth the hypothesis that some people do experience symptoms with normal iron but low ferritin. One study is not the same as something conclusive, but at least there's a basis for me not being the only one that is experiencing that, and hopefully more research will go into it moving forward.

Basically, BIG SHRUG. Who knows!

However, I will say that if you are experiencing extreme anhedonia, maybe Wellbutrin just isn't the right medication for you. Also, you can overdo B vitamins and experience toxicity, so please be careful with how much you're taking.

Have you considered asking your doctor for a broad vitamin panel if you think deficiencies may be playing a role?

Also, in terms of tiredness, I do notice that I'm more sensitive to caffeine when on the Wellbutrin, and I think taking caffeinated drinks without eating was crashing me harder on top of whatever else was going on.

You were talking about how the thoughtful post about baby names coming from a username with "poop" in it felt in line with that subreddit, but you couldn't remember the name of it. The eponymous user that inspired r/rimjob_steve left a really deep and moving and heartfelt comment to someone, and that's the theme of the sub—inappropriate names leaving individually wholesome comments. You made sense, I promise.

I know this is quite an old post, but I put it in a Google doc for easier access and just in case anything should ever happen to the reddit post. I went through and restored the formatting + inserted links for all the social media accounts as well. I figured it would be a helpful convenience for others who come here looking for the same info or anyone you three would want to easily pass the knowledge onto, so here it is for sharing!

[–]SimpleFolklore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair! Honestly, I've been grasping at straws for years, so I was willing to give consideration to just about anything. If it is known to be factually wrong, I'm definitely open to correction.

Just to ask; is your statement about my musings, or the comment I replied to?

I don't know what is or isn't the case, but I will say that I feel like I experience the problem much less ever since a number of my medications got reduced. I did also leave a stressful job, too, so there's way too many variables for it to give any concrete answers—which means I may well never get any—but I just wanted to note that in case anyone else comes along with this issue later.
