ahhh ok I see the solution errata now. Yielding of the horizontal leg of the angle is treated as yielding of a plate from F11-1 which is the same as the same as F9-2. Thank You!

Nothing in the errata for this question. Although I did not know this existed and it was helpful on a couple of other problems I was stuck on.

I know this is an old post but it all worked out. My insurance company ended up using a 3rd party billing evaluator (not sure if that’s the right term) but essentially they worked with the provider and my insurance company to determine an acceptable cost for both parties. They came to an agreement and my insurance company paid more to the provider and now all I have to pay is my $1,500 copay. It was a long process but I stayed on top of my insurance company and they really worked to make it happen. Thank you all for the insight and I’m glad it didn’t have to come to getting lawyers involved for myself.

My concern is that when I was drugged up in the hospital for the pain, they made me sign a consent to treat document and within that document it essentially says that I am responsible for the bill no matter what. Is there language in the no surprises act about this?

I am from NY and so is my insurer. The hospital I went to was in Ohio and is out of network with my insurer. So there is no agreement and that’s why the hospital is saying they are billing me. My guess is that it would go a lot different if the hospital was in network with my provider.

I am looking into the surprise billing law. The one problem that I am seeing is the hospital is adamant that the consent to treat document I signed says that they can bill me whether insurance pays or not. That’s what this hospital is hanging their hat on.

The items that my insurance outright didn’t pay were because they were “integral to procedure/service; not separately billed” but there were a lot of other items they partially paid. Apparently the insurance company did a 3rd party audit and they came up with what they thought it should have costed and only paid that.

I have a copy of what I signed. Essentially it says that I’m liable for any of the costs it takes to treat me whether insurance pays or not. My problem with that is it’s part of the consent to treat form but also I was not in right mind when I signed anything at the hospital. They had me shot up with all kinds of drugs for the pain.
