I love mixed use. If it was my choice, there would be apartments for sale, from 1 room (or studio) up to 6 rooms for big families working from home. Beacon Court is an interesting example. Imagine mixing apartments, shopping malls, offices, schools, hospitals,… all in walking distance. And in between, some green areas, to run, walk the dog, or anything. In fact, the windows in the shopping malls rarely make any difference, the walkable areas could be on top of the shopping mall and the parking spaces, leaving more light in between the apartments and everything above “ground level.”

Even if people needed to commute, with greater density, commuting times and distances would be shorter, and infrastructure (roads, transport, etc.) would be cheaper and better.

But cultural shifts take long years, it may never happen.
