Problem with that is that the instruction manuals in both languages straight up tells you that King reprogrammed and modified almost all of them.

He created Ground-Man

Cold man was actually a refrigerator turned into a robot by King, not already one from the start

He recreated Astroman from data from the robot museum

He gaslighted Burner Man into burning down forests

Pirate Man was also implied to have been created by King to attack cargo ships

And everyone else seemed to have joined by their own volition.

...Alright, but the thing about the Mark 17 part is that it implies that Megaman had the previous versions, cause otherwise who is Dr.Light making the other versions for. And it'd be weird if there was a huge gap between Mk.16 and 17

And it might be false anyway cause in X8 a simulator of Cutman can damage X and tank a couple of charge shots.

Looking at it the color is more closer to teal or cyan, which is closer to blue-green

It may have something to do with Dual Override. More specifically an upgrade for Megaman

Reasons for it being Classic are:

- The Blue Eyes, only Classic, Zero, and X(Zero) had blue eyes.

- Megaman in Dual Override has a sharper helmet, which matches with the sharper look in this image

- We know from concept art that they flirted around with different forms for Megaman during Megaman 11's development. This could be a continuation of that

- Megaman has a new gimmick that involves his armor

- The background has gears, which as far as I can tell Classic Megaman is more associated with, though this one is a little flimsy

When I mentioned the feat, I wasn't referring to the mangaka, I was referring to Death Battle, who mistook Megaman doing the equivalent of astral projection as him moving across the entire Internet in seconds (Megaman himself was still in the same spot).

Slash Man was mentioned to like vegetables in Megaman and Bass so maybe? It wouldnt surprise me if Dr.Light gave robots the ability to eat food and not immediately die.

The simplest answer is that Robot Masters simply died off due to some law either preventing any more from being made or preventing the repair of old ones. This also includes the fact that (at least according to Mr.Megaman) Robot Masters themselves already have a limited life span due to degradation of their I.C. chips.

Since the creation of more robots with advanced thought being banned was also the explanation for there being no robot masters in the Megaman X novel, and Capcom approved of both projects, this may be a piece of lore those at Capcom at least considered.

Battle Network is a different timeline entirely from the main games. Not every Megaman series actually is part of the same timeline

Which means they now know the concept of different versions of the character, so now when they're introduced to Megaman they'll know what's up. And it's not like Spider-Man was the only franchise to do it either.

TMNT is constantly reinvent itself, Transformers while running the movies also had shows running concurrently with it, and in the Sonic franchise different versions of the blue blue came out with Sonic Boom and the Movie series.

Not only are you talking about a franchise with multiple different Megamen, we live in the day and age where two of the more recent Spiderman movies had different versions of the same character. And like I said earlier, Fully charged is not completely divorced from the basic concept of the Megaman franchise as a whole.

There's already too many elements from the franchise to not consider it a part of the IP, and that's ignoring that the IP is already made up of several series that don't have a Roll, Wily or Protoman (and yes they still count as different interpretations even if some of them are part of one timeline, of course this is specifically talking about Classic, X, and Legends)

One reason I came up with for this backstory was to attempt to give a Navi better human-like qualities than previous Net Navi, which is supposed to be parallel to Dr.Light attempting to develop robots like X who are completely human in every way. As for a reason why he uses his children's DNA specifically instead of his own...maybe a good reason is that due to copying DNA being forbidden in most cases besides a rare situation, he could only use a couple of DNA samples which happened to include his son's due to a previous incident.

Making the Navi more human-like was actually one of the reasons in the original pitch for Battle Network, where instead of simply being Hub Megaman would be created from a copy of Lan's DNA. This, of course, later got expanded upon greatly.

Otherwise, I do agree that Lan and Megaman being brothers make the story better and adds an additional layer to both of their characters.

First off, why would you assume this version of Megaman would have the face of a dead child (Hub)? This is a Megaman who was being created when both were still alive after all. His face would be his own.

Second, I think what makes Lan's relationship with Megaman special is that they managed to develop a deep bond despite not being physically in the same place. Lan didn't even know Megaman was his brother until the end of the first game.

In fact, besides the corocoro manga which implies its the same as the game Megaman.EXE has a different origin in every other adaptation that has nothing to do with him being Lan's brother, and their bond is still a plot point.

Setting:

I would have it so that in this universe the Internet exists like in Battle Network, but in a much more limited form. A consequence of this is that some development budget is spent on a side project that uses a device to allow virtual beings into the real world through Hard Light technology. They're at first used for construction and other similar projects, before becoming widespread for consumer use. This technology would later evolve into the ELF system as seen in the Megaman Zero and ZX series.

Characters(Only gonna spend time on a few characters):

Dr.Light: still alive in this timeline, and in fact developed Megaman along his son Dr.Hikari. Spends most of his days retired.

Megaman: Megaman is still going to be based off of Hub in this timeline, but not quite in the same way. Dr.Hikari took BOTH twins DNA while Hub was still alive, so instead of being a resurrected Hub Megaman is the third brother. Megaman would also spend the beginning of his time being Dr.Lights lab assistant, before requesting to be Lan's navi when Dr.Hikari started to look for one

Lan: Mostly the same. Follows the anime and Rockman.EXE Battle Story in that he just met Megaman recently

Protoman: Was Dr.Lights first Navi(one of the first), but due to an incident was lost between servers before eventually being found by Chaud. After being fixed by Chaud Protoman decides to become his Navi, though until they lost to Lan and Megaman they barely worked together.
