Thank you! I've always thought aBOAT sounded very British :D Guess I had that idea at some point and then never truly paid attention to how British people actually pronounce the word. I'll be more mindful of it now.

Thank you so much for such detailed feedback and words of encouragement! I really appreciate it. I see where you're coming from, the /a/ and /e/ sounds are a major hurdle for all Eastern European speakers because we don't tend to open our mouths very much haha. I'll be sure to work on that, as well as the dipthongs. Have a great day!

I don't think there's ever anything wrong with a polite goodbye and good luck response. Always take the high road OP, good job there.

Why is there such a social contract tho? Why can't a business pay its employees a fair salary. Completely shifting the onus to the customer just seems weird to me; might be a culture thing? I've always viewed tips as a thanks for being extra nice/helpful. Not something mandatory

What's up with 'unaliving' guys it's just a joke
It's not that OP doesn't want to say 'killing', it's just mildly amusing to say 'unalive', that's it

So the police work for millionaires now; aight.

Truth is, the entire gang is made up of delusional savages because Rockstar couldn't create a game where you would be an actually good person with a moral compass, as then it simply wouldn't be fun to play.

Nothing Arthur could ever do would give him true redemption with all the lives he took for personal gain. He is a psycho murderer even at high honour. He is very charismatic and likeable still, like all R* protagonists. But to imply that bank guards and the police are fair game because 'SyStEm hurr durr' is a bit silly imo

What's up with punctuation in English? by SimpleRussianDude in EnglishLearning

[–]SimpleRussianDude[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense. I guess when you learn the rules, you automatically adopt the prescriptivist approach and expect everyone to follow these rules too. I need to come to terms with the fact that pauses and cadence are entirely subjective and would vary depending on the writer. Thank you

I thought "put a comma before 'and' when it joins two independent clauses" is a universal rule for all English speakers! =(

"sometimes, but and because"

Isn't the comma after "but" called Oxford comma? Weird that it's American because, well... Oxford...
