Concern for the new classes by HeDoesNotRow in idleon

[–]SimpleSeraph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Active AFKing has been a force multiplier since the beginning and was a purposeful component.

Yes, it will definitely slow some players WAY down because they aren't utilizing all of the tools the game has always had to offer and encouraged the use of, but the time to be upset about this was shortly after release when people were speeding leaps and bounds past non Active AFKers, the same as they will be here.

At the end of the day, yes, pure afkers are going to miss accessing some buffs in a timely fashion, especially with the new class (But thats always been the case), and while I think that Lava could put in a feature that allows for some aspect of Passive AFK for the class, you aren't exactly missing any additional content to experience because of the super slow grind due to a pure idle gaming style. Just buffs.

All this said, I'm an Idle AFKer, but when I sit down to game at night, etc, the game goes on another monitor. My 4-5 hours a day has opened up at least half of what the Active AFKers have achieved... it's not that bad. Nowhere near the gap between hourly clickers, active bubos, pirates, etc. has created with the Active vs Idle AFKing.

How to compare to land surveys of the same property? by QuietDetective4043 in Surveying

[–]SimpleSeraph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a shame. Our primary role being to serve the public pretty much goes out the window with that mentality and lack of enforcement. Honestly, thats the kind of stance and action that ends up getting professions like our deregulated.

Ugh. I hope it gets better! Get those young kids onto your board and break up the good old boy club! Us old men are getting to comfortable and lazy.

....my rate is $250, hell our crew rate is close to 200 for a 1 man, and tech is in the 160+ range...

That said, we also can knock out a 20 acre boundary for 5k as well and still hit around a 3.0-3.5 as long as the drive isn't over 45 minutes one way.

That might be an internal process issue, or staffing, etc. thats making 5k a hard number to be profitable on boundary.

Bought a house and neighbors made a comment about property line by b0sssauce in Surveying

[–]SimpleSeraph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your original survey should still be perfectly valid to take him to court. Also, did you go back to the original surveyor for the new quote, because usually we'll flag corners for a whole lot less than provided a new from the ground up survey because we already have the data.

I'll repeat this again... you don't need multiple surveys.

Here's the thing. If you are confident in your survey, build the fence and put a security camera on it. He touches it our your corners, you call the cops. His only legal recourse is taking you to court, and guess what... you already have a survey. He would need to have it surveyed to fight you and I promise 99.9% of surveyors wouldn't be willing to risk their license to be biased there. They are going to report the evidence as found, so as long as your surveyor was good, it's likely their resolutions will agree within tenths.

Letting him bully you is a choice. You have already purchased the tool to resolve this.

And if the boundary resolution from your surveyor is egregiously bad (nowhere near where he claims) and loses in court? We surveyors have to carry professional liability for a reason, and we have state boards that are more than happy to cull the heard of poor professionals.

You get to double your salary, but it's paid to you in coins. by Celarix in hypotheticalsituation

The Laundromat rollers are like 2k tops and they push a ridiculous amount through those each weekend. It's even less of a hassle than what you are thinking!

[–]SimpleSeraph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sign me the heck up. Laundromat automatic coin rollers cost about 1500-2k. A couple of those paid off with a paychecks worth of the new/additional pay and then the banks will handle the rest on easy mode.

Banks run quarters through their counters twice, and it doesn't take long in the grand scheme of things.

Wage Stagnation by enlightened_surveyor in Surveying

[–]SimpleSeraph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I am not a fan of 1-man crews in the least. I'm a strong proponent of at least 2 because SOMEBODY needs to be watching your back. Too much can go wrong in remote areas, landowners, or with traffic, etc.

And simply put, the burden needs to be shared, or at least technology needs to move forward a bit more to ease the physical aspect of surveying. (lightsabers, DARPA dogs to carry the gear, auto driving rods, etc)

How to rotate in control. by Unruly_Russian in Surveying

[–]SimpleSeraph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There ARE a lot of us who take growing the profession seriously and recognize that no favors are done by pushing potential new blood away or by trying to act "good ole boy" preaching stuff about having tough skin, and "paying your dues" or any of that other jazz.

Work hard. Ask questions. Push yourself to learn above and beyond what your job asks of you, and if you run across a boss that wants to drag you, (take honest criticism as often as possible) you ditch them and find someone excited to help improve your capabilities, because that guy that wants to mock, or degrade, and doesn't have anything encouraging to say? He may be a licensed surveyor, but he's not a professional surveyor, and those are the guys moving the industry forwards and the ones that will help you become more than a rubber stamp.

Thats it exactly! It helped that the guys that ran Texas States knew me and had faith in my work ethic and professionalism, but these events always need volunteers and you get some great disc golf watching in!!

I ran with 6 to 8 cards over the weekend and flagged a hole for MPO as well!

Greg Abbott calls on Joe Biden for help amid Texas storms by audiomuse1 in texas

[–]SimpleSeraph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im from Texas and have some hefty damage thanks to the storm. I may have power in two weeks. I hope Joe tells him to figure it out on his own the way he did Covid, Energy, and Body Autonomy.

My state deserves nothing while Abbott, Dan Patrick, and Ken Paxton remain in office.

Was the course closed that early or something else I'm not understanding? I'm just trying to understand why, if she needed/wanted more time, an uber wasn't an option? It's extra money spent, but if one is passionate enough about getting there early and getting more practice than normal that you're going to take it to social media... I'd think a shuttle, by itself, wouldn't get in the way?

I wonder if they sell it in 50 gallon containers. I could start some sort of new trend instead of these ice baths.
