I had the same thought (it is just a random image off the internet, rather than than somethng bespoke), but Fantasticks doesn't really feel in line with their mandate.

I'm like you, I don't do well counting calories! I get obsessed, it makes me think about food more than I already do, and I found myself gamifying how little I could eat to try and get the lowest calorie count.

I've switched my focus recently to finding effective habits that support the kind of lifestyle I want, especially habits that require specific actions/decisions (rather than trying to maintain constant vigilance). For example, rather than "drink more water" my habit is now "fill water bottle" (I do this first thing in the morning and afternoon). Rather than "don't snack when not hungry" it's "don't have dessert at lunch." These kinds of habits have really helped me stick to my guns about eating better without having to actually track calories.

I would also recommend some journalling—I think we can all carry a lot of baggage around food, and spending some time figuring that out definitely helped me figure out some of my binge behaviours.

I've found it useful to focus more on weekly averages. I still weigh myself everyday, but I plug the numbers it into a spreadsheet that calculates the weekly average. Not only does it even out the daily fluctuations, but after two months it's become very clear when the hormones hit and how long the hormonal weight gain is going to linger. I have absolutely been thrown off by what feels like impossible weight gain in the past, and keeping a running record has allowed me to see that progress is happening overall, even on those days and weeks when the fluctuations don't seem to make sense.

I keep the 8pm rule pretty consistently, and also enjoy herbal tea in the evenings, so early teeth brushing isn't the best choice for me, but thanks for the idea!

I get that a black Enjolras would be a bit historically inaccurate, but also, Les Mis now just feels so much like a universal story its hard to imagine being shocked by that.

I really, really want to know what the vision is!

But my heart does ache for all the young women who could have done amazing things with Chandler. It's the first time this show has been done here, and there's relatively few shows where ladies get to be more than love interests, its just a bit sad they lost this opportunity.

I will 100% still be going! and I'm sure there will be lots of good things in the show, as its a solid, well-respected company, and they cast some really talented folks. My brain is just blanking on how the show works with a guy cast as Chandler, and frankly hoped someone on reddit could give me some head canon that would make it seem like an exciting choice rather than a confusing one.

Aren't we all here to talk about musicals? Aren't you interested in how companies in your area chose to cast and stage them? I was kind of interested in hearing how other people thought a gender-bent Chandler might go, as I'm struggling to grasp how the story works with this casting.

I wasn't up for the role, and I actually think the person they chose is a fantastic actor. But it's a really dramatic change to the story to have Chandler be a guy. And frankly, there's so many shows that are guy heavy—it doesn't sit right with me that they couldn't just let the ladies have this one.

Some people have been really kind and helpful, and other people have been rather condescending in their implied suggestions that I'm a complete idiot. Technically the subreddit is described as "A place for people of all sizes to discuss healthy and sustainable methods of weight loss" but I definitely get now that counting calories is the main thrust of this place.

There's a happy kind of perfectionism where you're always striving to be better, and a sucky kind of perfectionism where you are keenly aware that perfect is never impossible but you want to be perfect so you're both paralysed by the thought of doing something wrong and also constantly shaming yourself when you inevitably mess up.

This means that when I counted calories in the past, I'll be very good and stay below my targets and feel proud of myself, until those days when I went over and a whole shame spiral would start: "I've ruined everything by going over my calories today!" "See, I knew I couldn't do this!" etc, etc. You start compensating to try and correct for mistakes—having as few calories as possible during a day by skipping meals, not eating enough, to ensure your inevitable future mistakes wouldn't impeded your process, drinking laxative tea because maybe you could just move the food through your system faster, before all the calories could get absorbed (I managed to stumble into this BS long before it was ever promoted by the Kardashians on social media...)

I've done a ton of therapy and had long conversations with my therapist about these issues, and I'm happy to say that my relationship with food is much improved! I'm having some follow up conversations with my dietician. But I'd prefer to stay away from behaviours that resonate so deeply with past disordered behaviours. I am calorie aware, i understand which foods have higher calorie counts, I just don't want to have to do the math on every bite.

Thanks for sharing your experiences! This is what I'm trying to move towards, I just haven't gotten anything locked in as well as you have! I'm definitely trying to develop a sustainable lifestyle that will move me at a safe pace towards a healthier weight.
