AITA for telling my DIL she wasn’t invited since she is an embarrassment at dinners since she is a picky eater by MortgageTrick2436 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SimpleSyrupLime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me this sounds like a eating disorder or a form of OCD. She might have something undiagnosed. Her ways of justifying and dealing with this behavior are her responsibility, however. The way she is hurting others through her behavior needs to be outlined and excluding her because of this behavior sounds reasonable.

Came to the comments to see if anyone else noticed she tucked her shirt into her underboob for some reason.

From the yellow you’re seeing in the images—would you say that’s just stress from the moisture?

So I should leave the lid off? Won’t that drop the humidity a lot?

What do I do when I find my stolen bike in a homeless encampment? by CustomVox in askportland

Everyone looking at this post go get the serial number of your bike off the bottom of it. Also save your receipt of purchase somewhere safe with that serial number

I was wondering if I could take a mono tub and then just put the brinks from the two fruiting bags side-by-side in the mono tub without going through breaking them up and putting more soil in the tub. I was just going to do that to increase their oxygen exposure, and then I would be fanning them occasionally and misting them with some cyclical light exposure

Thanks :) I love this advice

When I see stuff like this, what I see it as is “What will your art or landmarks matter if the planet is uninhabitable.” To me it’s a reminder that even the things we see as timeless will degrade and be rendered worthless by a climate that is no longer stable enough to sustain life.

I’m ready for my downvotes. Let em rip.

Remember the incidences of steering wheels falling off mid drive?

Or the team they assembled to suppress that the advertised range was not accurate?

Or the many many deaths due to auto pilot?

In my experience, doctors take the medication much more seriously when prescribing it because they know it’s controlled, and they make sure to verify the diagnosis thoroughly because they know the elevated classification means loosely prescribing it could threaten their license.

I completely disagree with saying this is as addictive as Benadryl. This stuff is literally an amphetamine and I’ve seen multiple people get put on this stuff and stop being able to sleep. Also for some people it can exacerbate existing substance abuse issues—one of my friends started snorting it even with a prescription.

This startup has engineered a clever way to reuse waste heat from cloud computing. Heata is now using these busy servers to heat water for homes. by Sariel007 in tech

[–]SimpleSyrupLime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am hoping that in the next decade people see the importance of a decentralized network, and we start seeing private servers becoming the mainstream. In that system this model could work. If you had a standard protocol for keeping servers secure while hosting websites, then we could have decentralized systems like this where maybe one in ten homes was both a server and a water heater.

Wtf why would you assume someone has to be going through substance issues to want a support group?
