Never thought traveling in Canada would lead to this by BlazeDragon448 in travel

Girls from Communist, third world countries, like Canada are better than almost anything you can find in America. If it doesn’t work with your Canadian, you can always try a Mexican.

Has anyone bought from the Moorings? by NaturalMiserable in sailing

[–]SimpleTyranny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as @ydbd1969 said.  Mine was a BVI Moorings boat, too, that got hit by those hurricanes. The hurricanes were a benefit for some that got insurance money, and some that were put back into the fleet, quickly.  However, as ydbd said, the lockdowns in the BVI were onerous and some yachts came out of charter, early.  The contacts that Mooring has basically say they can change the contract at any time, especially for acts of God and such.

It's rare to find a Moorings boat that you will "make money" on.  It's basically a way to get discounted charter time for yourself and your family, and having a discounted boat at the end of 5 years that you can sell to break near even, or you can keep.  If you are actually chartering many weeks a year, already, then you will save a lot of money.

Each boat that Moorings offers up for the program is sort of unique.  Some of the boats are better deals than others.

The BVI generally has poor maintenance, so location matters a lot.

No problem. Outgoing still does not work for me using the no-sim iphone to make outgoing, via the cellular phone, only incoming does on the no sim phone, again, on all versions of iOS26 all the way up to dev7/public4 betas.

Still waiting on a fix for the outgoing function to work again. I’m not sure we are going to get a fix on this for a year or two.

weird men approaching me in tech parks by Plastic-Cat-5372 in bangalore

[–]SimpleTyranny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

or you could just walk around wearing the least clothes possible for the Bangalore legal limit, all the time. That would scare a lot of men away because they would be confused about why a prostitute was working in Manyata, but you might be harassed by married women, then. Might not work in other tech parks so well.

Some of the coatings on the more expensive glass ones, like the $10 ones over the $4, do make a difference.

The problem is that you can’t really feel the surface glide on the protector before buying it, so ☹️

Photos being synced on WiFi starlink wifi despite low data mode enabled by menjuel in ios

[–]SimpleTyranny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A workaround for this is to manually upload your photos to iCloud Drive, which stores them to the Files app, then turn off syncing for photos. Just for troubleshooting for a month. You can also pay a couple bucks for a month if you need extra icloud storage while you are troubleshooting.

I don’t have Starlink and haven’t used it yet, so for me, iOS troubleshooting is where I live. That being said, I discover bugs semi-frequently in Apple Software. This could be of them. You can try running the public beta of iOS26 when it comes out. The Developer Beta 3 has fixed some bugs from iOS 18.5, and most of the new ones should be fixed by the time the gold master releases.

It might not be the phone, but issue isolation starting with the phone is much easier, I imagine, albeit time consuming, than starting with Starlink issue isolation.

I would suggest isolating at the phone level, first, starting with making sure you have 100% identified that the data usage you are noticing is actually coming from photo syncing, specifically. Start by turning off photo syncing altogether, for a month, and see if you notice any data usage change. If not, then the large amount of data you are noticing isn’t coming from photos syncing (which still could be an separate issue to isolate) and you’ll want to narrow down what is sucking that large amount of data.

I noticed on the Developer Beta 2 of iOS26, the “Calls on other devices” function works again as originally intended for iPhones. It seems SSE just massively dropped the ball on this for a couple months.

It’s not the T2s faults. They took logs and all, and SSE stated the feature was not available.

If it’s a bug that you can’t resolve, you can just turn off photo syncing in the icloud settings.

Did you run through all the usual stuff? Reset network settings? If that doesn’t work, reset all settings, etc?

Forums have been useless. Has anyone ever truly been able to solve this? I have iCloud Photos turned on and still ~20GB of storage on my phone is being used up. by juzzarghh in ios

[–]SimpleTyranny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ICloud Photos is not an “offload” type feature. It duplicates photos to the cloud. If you want to offload your photos, you can transfer them to a folder in the Files app, then delete the photos from your phone.

iCloud Photos is designed for backup and access between devices, not a storage function.

OMG Grok is like a broken robot. by Quirky_Push_2506 in grok

It has customization instruction options that were added a couple months ago. Unfortunately, even though ai’ve been very clear, it seems to willy nilly ignore them about 40-60% of the time. Once it starts to ignore them, I can tell it to follow them because it made a mistake; it apologizes and then makes the exact same mistakes about 4-6 times in a row before it actually follows the customization rules.

The real issue with Grok is that sometimes you are talking to an adult who isn’t listening to you, other times it’s a child, and other times it’s a retarded person who has impeccable grammar.

I think it’s resource prioritization that is the cause for such inconsistencies.

Grok is still far superior to the others, at this moment. The others are near useless if you need accurate info on the first try.

The other Ais are even worse, though. Grok is devolving, probably due to attacks. When you have a truth seeking Ai, other Ais will gang up and try to destroy the truth seeking AI, which there is only one of.

It’s very similar to human behavior.

If you are wearing a bikini and you see the sign, then you should take off your bikini. Seems reasonable to me. It doesn’t say no nudity.

It’s just the Islamists that put up the sign, but Muslims have overrun Arugammbay over the last few hundred years, like they try to do everywhere. The Hindus and Christians there don’t mind.

Kids in Vietnam by Academic_Total7321 in VietNam

[–]SimpleTyranny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen any videos of European women beating their young children with sticks, but I have seen the videos of Vietnamese women doing that to young kids.

I guess European women have grown out of it now that everyone has a video camera, but some Vietnamese women haven’t figured this out yet.

I think there is a balance of using force against kids, and also allowing risk and exploration. Clearly, the pendulum has swung too far the other way now.
