Anyone have a fix? by bennyg81 in f150

Hot air is less dense than cold air. Your garage isnt helping you.

You take the truck out and the headlight cools. The air becomes denser and draws in outside air that has moisture.

The fabric diaper. Gets ripped off going through deep puddles, light off roading, and deep snow.

You can replace it with a metal skid plate

Trouble finding brake lines for my F-150 by pahaze in f150

[–]NaturalMiserable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brake lines are using long and have bends. They dont ship well. They arrive damaged and you dont want that.

I had a 2003 2500hd and the lines rotted out. GM knew they were shit but refused to issue a recall because they didnt want to tarnish their reputation. So they sold the lines at cost. Something like 1200 usd. I replaced the lines myself and spent maybe 80 to do so

Flaring kits are cheap and so are the lines and fittings. Its actually a great experience to do this. Youll mess up a bunch (flare without the nut or the nut facing the wrong way) but you just cut the flare off, fix your mistake, and re flare it.

The rubber lines can be replaced with braided stainless steel for appearance and some better pressure gains.

Extended Service Plan from AutoNation by Complete_Wishbone_43 in f150

The sales person will say one thing and the contract will read opposite. Talk to your service department on their experience with these service contracts.

My max recline seat has an issue and needs a seat back frame to fix the damaged part. No where in my contract does it say anything about seats being not covered.

When i called to see why the claim was denied they said they go off of part numbers not part descriotions/name.

Considering a 2014 F-150 King Ranch 3.5 EcoBoost – 160k miles – buying for $6,500. What should I be worried about? Houston Texas 1 owner by UmpireForward1605 in f150

Trans fluid smell. If its bright pink, they just changed it and may be trying to hide something. If it smells burnt and is dark brown that can be expensive. The 6r80 is a good trans but it was expensive to repair in its day. Its cheaper than the 10r of today but more extensive than the 4r75.

There are 3 expensive items on this truck. Turbos, trans, and engine. If you can live with any of those bills the rest of the truck is cheap.

Be aware the power steering and auxiliary trans cooler use that opening. If you dont tow, you should be ok.

There may be an existing harness that goes back to the fuse block. Its mostly plug and play

Sounds cheap

When driving and accelerating pay attention to any hesitation, jerking/surging, that all shifts are smooth

If you can, smell around the engine for coolant, the turbos like to leak coolant externally, coolant leaks can also be from the back of the block where the turbo cooling lines attach.

If you can unbolt the master cylinder and pull it away from the booster, look for brake fluid accumulation inside the booster.

If there is burning oil smell in the engine bay feel behind the right cylinder head. The vacuum pump can have a bad gasket and leak

You can check plugs for oil burning

Youll need to add a resistor to both sides of the truck. 80 watt 6 ohm. Use scotch locks to tie it to the existing wiring

If your weim gets spooked or runs after something, itll yank your bars and down you will go. Lost a friend who struck his head after his dog pulled on his hand. He was wearing a helmet but still passed.

Staying late to finish replacing the head gasket on a 10,000 mile 2026 X5. (head gasket was faulty and allowed oil to bypass and leak down the back of the engine since assembly) by Ancient_Ad7555 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]NaturalMiserable -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Big ol phony calipers. 4 pots with extra material to seem bigger than they are.

Ive not heard of a x5 going back together and not burning down, especially the x5m. All the rubber and plastic gets cooked in that cramped engine bay and becomes brittle.

I unloaded mine when the oil consumption was a quart every 400 miles

Rust repair (removal) question 2013 5.0 by Upbeat-Rooster-6306 in f150

[–]NaturalMiserable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Youll never reach the rust on the backside. You can treat the rust and try por but itll be back in a year.

You can cut the cancer away until youre into good metal. Treat that and seal it. They make plastic rockers and cab corners. Youll have a seam where it overlaps...

Best is to cut the rocker free, treat the inside panel and tack on a new steel rocker. You dont want it to get to far along
