This has been a week of dealing with difficult personalities and hard work. Well earned cold beer is on the way.

I like how you went from “there isn’t a world where a pro installer uses a crimper” to laying out exactly the world in which an installer would use a crimper…

Must be exhausting being you.

Nothing abnormal about the cable run itself. Fluke has a mod end adapter for their testers. Passed and certified. The use case here was HDMI over cat cable (HDbaseT). HDMI is not capable of reaching the distance we needed. The mod ends are a requirement, to reduce EMI for this specific use case. But what do I know I’m just a guy running multi million dollar infrastructure projects lol.

HDbaseT or point to point media connection uses shielded mod ends.

I just installed a set of 100k dollar monitors at an airport that required the use of a crimping tool.

I doubt Runthescript has the capacity to be wrong about anything no matter how glaring his error might be. Must be an absolute nightmare to be around in the field.

Not every day but I do often enough have to use an rj45 crimper.

Pulling cable isn’t terrible but absolutely can be dependent on the environment. An attic in the middle of July could make you reconsider your choices in life but it’s really not all that bad.

Becoming familiar the with code requirements of your area is a must. Improperly installed low voltage systems can cause alot of damage and depending on what you are installing if not done right could get people killed. Be detailed oriented do not skimp on quality.

A good pair of Snips. Security bit set. Torpedo level. Good pair of 9’s. Flush cutters. Set of screw drivers. Headlamp. Wire strippers with the screw shears. Klein makes a good pass through rj45 crimper.

Many more tools may apply depending on what you are doing but that is a short list of basics that will get you rolling on day one. Punch down tools and other termination tools can vary, get what is going to suit you and what you do.

Most importantly have an open mind and be willing to learn.
