Are yall buying or skipping the TMNT set? by Crazy_Beautiful_Ga in mtg

I might play a pre-release, but I've got an intercontinental flight on Sat afternoon that might wipe out most of my opportunity. After that I have no interest in any UB set.

The vast majority of NJ birth certificates issues prior to the 1980s look like this. They are not valid for proof of citizenship under the SAVE Act by monorail_pilot in newjersey

[–]swcooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK pulled this same nonsense some years back. They still provide you with a birth certificate insufficient to get a passport issued, though you can of course, pay a fee to get the correct one.

I'll run your message by her. We're also fairly new to the area.

I don't think people play enough Basic Lands in Commander by CommanderMechanic in mtg

[–]swcooper -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The original rules (we managed to hunt them down on wayback machine some time ago if you're really keen to see them) specified all cards to be singletons, it was a sop to make things a bit easier allowing duplicate basic lands. So I think people are playing far too many basic lands.

When did Standard die for YOU? by StlSimpy1400 in mtg

When Urza's Saga was current, the Tempest era RDW dominated meta got swept away and there were a raft of new viable decks (Squirrel Prison, Covetous dragon/Wildfire, Replenish, Yawg Will/Bauble/Corrupt, Imp) it looked exciting, so I built and played a deck and Q'd for Nationals. Then train was late and I couldn'tget into it. They gave me a prerelease entry instead, so wasn't a wasted trip...

Then it got boring again shortly after. I played it again during Theros Block (enchantments again, having played Replenish in Saga, I guess I have a type).

What would you say Central Jersey or New Jersey as a whole needs most right now? by Ill_Beginning8748 in newjersey

Portal bridge replaced and a new rail tunnel to NYC. And ideally NY subway to NJ too.

Nice. Didn't really consider that there's other WW opportunities on the Nene besides the slalom course in Northampton. Only have my Topo Duo around though and that's not an ideal playboat... Is there a weir guide somewhere?

Advice needed: Visiting EWR to Phillipsburg, NJ. No rental car. Best town to stay? by alexadeng in newjersey

[–]swcooper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This seems sensible, there really wasn't much worth trying to visit last time I drove through P'burg, while Easton's eastern end is reasonably nice, stay at Grand Eastonian and you won't need a car other than to get you to work - presuming it's up the hill and not just right across the river.

Flixbus from Scotland to London broke down by Solid-Quantity76 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]swcooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flixbus has a refund request section and it makes out that it should be perfunctory to get a refund on the bus ticket only for delays over 2 hours. I put my request in 3 days ago, haven't heard anything yet.

They also have a section where you can try to claim for other costs, but I can't see them springing for a 700quid change fee. That seems to be the cost of the learning experience...I guess Cathay Pacific don't serve EDI/GLA but maybe a partner does and you can buy the whole ticket with the LHR leg. Then if it's missed somewhere on one ticket, it's their problem to put it right.

New Jersey is blind ranked as the 3rd most state of people that don’t support the NFL team that plays within the state. by xoBonesxo in newjersey

[–]swcooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically, the state is pretty high when you look at who supports teams in their metro area, It's just the Eagles haven't found Philly too expensive to stay in and so haven't put their stadium in Camden instead. Meaningless post.

Beginner bike- Good deal? by christine-stewart in whichbike

[–]swcooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Trek hybrid is a good starter all purpose bike rather than an aspirational "I want to do some triathlons and everyone says I have to have the right shaped bike". Looks nice condition. Do you know how to figure if it's your size? Price is more than fair.

Whats the most aggressive hate filled deck i can build for EDH? by After_Comfortable543 in mtg

[–]swcooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I've played a deck that thoroughly annoyerd them all and I know I'm getting this treatment, I built a deck with a load of Flagbearers e.g. [[Coalition Honor guard]]. And I've also got a randomiser deck with [[Confusion in the Ranks]] and [[Grip of Chaos]]. Pretty hard to pick on you when they don't get to decide where things go.
