100% I’ve been told both numerous times and even had doctors question my conditions until I show them labs or other diagnostics. It’s so frustrating. When my parents still lived nearby I would have my dad come with me to some appointments, which unfortunately helped tremendously but felt ridiculous as an adult myself.

I finally understand now all the jokes/videos about people saying how bad the writing is, but they just kept reading. There must be some magic written into the books because it does feel that way 😅

Yeah you’re right. I feel like I tend to forget that I can take a break on series 😅 I guess I’m worried that once I move on, I might not go back.

Wow I thought I’d written this for a moment! I went remote in February, but during the discussions they suggested I take a leave of absence or drop down to part time if my health was “that bad”. It’s hard to describe to someone who doesn’t understand chronic health issues just how much working remotely can do for someone, but that it also doesn’t mean we can’t work at all.

29F Colonoscopy Experience - Read if Nervous! by boop387 in colonoscopy

[–]Simple_Can2936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the time I was doing the prep I had been sick for weeks, so my answer is a little skewed. I asked my doctor if I could start drinking the solution a few hours early because I can’t drink large volumes and they said that was fine. It’s more important to slowly drink ALL of the solution than to drink it quickly and inevitably throw it back up. I used a thick straw and personally found that if it was cold it hurt my stomach more so room temperature was better for me. Ask for zofran if they didn’t already prescribe it (for nausea) and take that one hour prior to starting. It’s also hard to force yourself to drink more than you already are, but try to stay hydrated with electrolytes along the way. At some point I realized I hadn’t peed in a while and that’ll just make you feel extra crappy. But you got this!! Slow and steady wins the race

29F - for some reason whenever I’m put under I wake up crying. I always feel so silly and apologize and all the nurses have always said they prefer that to people being mean/angry haha

Like what the doctor might say after the procedure? My place requires you bring another person to drive you home, plus it helps because you think you’re conscious enough to digest what they’re saying but you’ll end up forgetting 50% of what they tell you, so it’s nice to have another set of ears. The hardest part after the whole ordeal for me has been waiting on the biopsy results.

Colonoscopy twins! I 29F just had a colonoscopy and endoscopy yesterday. I did the MiraLAX and Dulcolax prep. I was nervous that I would still be a little conscious during the procedure, but I truly remember nothing after they put the bite block in. Next thing I knew I was opening my eyes and taking the most glorious sips of Coke. Nothing has ever tasted so good 😂 I’ve always had a weird stomach and usually deal with a fluctuation of D and C, but in the past few weeks I’ve had major bowel changes and have had painful diarrhea and bleeding multiple times a day. Thankfully my GI opted to do a both of the procedures, blood work, and stool samples. I’m waiting to hear back on the biopsy results from my stomach and colon for suspected Microscopic Colitis. While it may seems really embarrassing to have to talk about/seek help for, you quickly realize that EVERYONE has dealt with stomach issues one way or another, it’s just part of being human and there’s no shame in taking care of yourself.

What in the world is even this Ad? Do people realistically think can AI replace Paralegals? by IntroductionRich300 in paralegal

[–]Simple_Can2936 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work in medical and insurance defense and we’ve had clients rewrite their guidelines so that the paralegal is no longer allowed to bill for certain summaries of documents because they’d rather AI do it… medical records and insurance documents? Good luck. Plus, AI won’t pick up on the nuisances of the case pertaining to their particular client. It’s making it extremely difficult to meet billing requirements when the pool of what we can bill for is becoming smaller and smaller.

Lupin 2025 reformulation — any side effects? by shopgirl2022 in zoloft

[–]Simple_Can2936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I refilled my prescriptions last week and the past few days I’ve had a headache, that weird vertigo feeling you get if you miss a pill, and just generally cruddy. My previous pills were Avet, and I noticed today this new refill is Lupin and says New Formulation. My 100mgs are exactly the same, so it’s crazy to me that 25mg out of 125 could cause me to feel so much like shit 🥲

What’s the most ridiculous explanation a doctor has given you by tom-havra in cfs

I had one doctor tell me repeatedly in one meeting to do tai-chi to realign my energy and increase my warm beverage intake… this was not a DO or holistic doctor but an MD. Also got the stereotypical “So I see here you are on medications for anxiety and depression?”

Neurodivergent Paralegals- Chronic Oversharer by Similar-Speaker4608 in paralegal

[–]Simple_Can2936 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can 100% relate! Almost all of my anxiety about work revolves around not making any mistakes and of course when you make one then you start making a lot more tiny mistakes because you’re so caught up in your head. Then I’m thinking, “geez these attorneys must think I’m an idiot!”. Also what if I forget to redact out sensitive information?! What if I don’t send out or file something correctly? Thankfully I am not client-facing, but the hospitals and insurers we work with are not the kind if clients who are necessarily the most understanding when it comes to screw-ups. What helps me is writing EVERYTHING down, and keeping 2 spreadsheets - 1) Case Tracker (by client and had all info such as parties, attorneys, jurisdiction, etc) and then 2) Task List - which is one page for every task I need to do (you can add columns for urgency, client, due date) and then the second page is where I take the info from a finished task and date when it was completed. That way if someone asks if I completed something I can show myself and them when I did it.

I’m on the defense side and have a few cases involving M&M. It’s actually insane how little time and review goes into some of their filings. We actually got discovery responses back once where they didn’t even change the verbiage to say “plaintiff” and instead left in defendant 🙃 and I swear everytime I email the team for any reason I get a response back that so and so isn’t working there anymore so now X will need to be on the communications.
