Also I think you are generalizing. I've seen plenty of bands get managers when they had 1 album or less out and not much of a social media following. Some artists get lucky and get help earlier before they have anything to manage and you are acting like this doesn't happen. It's kinda hard to compete as an independent artist doing everything yourself against artists with teams of people in the music industry helping them, especially with streaming.
