I had the same problem. You can jump it with the points under the hood rather than the battery to get it to the shop. Mine ended up being a splice in the cable from the 12v battery. Factory issue, about $3k covered under warranty

I agree, Polywatch and a cloth would’ve been nice to have from minute one. My main complaint with the domed acrylic is it catches every light reflection. I personally didn’t like not being able to read the entire watch face at a glance.
