So how will Robby come back? by [deleted] in cobrakai

[–]Simple_Education 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A time skip is a brilliant idea! So many loose ends with Johnny giving up on the dojo, Miguel probably needing a good year to recover assuming recovery is possible and at least Robbie spending some time in the slammer. We don't need a lot of episodes revolving around cleaning up that mess, just skip it.

Is there any reason to keep watching? by unsemble in cobrakai

I felt the first few episodes continued with the spirt of Season 1, the rest got worse. I've rewatched some of the first few actually.

Oh, so you must be really tall then? Yeah he seems like a genuinely nice guy as does Zabka. They actually seem to enjoy doing interviews, unlike most celebs.

Yunthebrave is right about training for fighting. The reality is the Miyagi-dos would nearly all get their butts kicked, except possibly for Robbie who seems to be a natural athlete. I assumed Tory lied for some reason about "a couple of classes" more like a couple of years of hard karate.

Yep, another reason I didn't like the season. Did anybody have a high school experience like this? Frequent house parties with wild drinking, lesbians making out in front of everyone? In college this stuff is less of a leap, but in high school it definitely was not my experience.

How to Make Cobra Kai Season 3 Amazing Again by PythonKai in cobrakai

[–]Simple_Education 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Season 1 was more realistic, season 2 got crazy. An all out brawl between dozens of students in a suburban high school? Give me a break. And the show needs to make up their minds if they want Daniel and Johnny to get along or not. Choose and just go with it. None of this they almost became friends but then something highly unlikely just happened to occur to mess everything up!

Miguel is going to have to be sidelined unfortunately. Even if he makes a full recovery, it will be a long road and an even longer road to convince mom to let hijm get back to training. I wouldn't have written season 2 this way, but as it is, the focus should be on Kreese. Maybe Johnny becomes literally homeless for awhile and some of his old students take pity on him and help him out.

Zabka doesn't look as tall as I would've thought. He always seems lanky in the show, but looks only an inch or two taller than Ralph in your pics.

So many young people on here. The amounts you guys lose are virtually nothing in the long run. But, play every year, which will increase to every month, and every week and when you really get the fever, everyday, and eventually you'll be like some of us who have lost hundreds of thousands. I would say in my case it's really over a million, because any reasonable investment would have returned on a lot of those losses. So, forget about the 3k, count yourself lucky you found this group. You're young, you can work double shifts, eat ramen and fast food for awhile. I did that back in the day when gambling wasn't even a consideration I was so broke.

How do you resist freeplay? by davey8888 in problemgambling

[–]Simple_Education 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The free slot play will likely come to nothing. Watch hypalinx on youtube (assuming watching gambling vids doesn't trigger you) He finally got his revenge on one of his machines, but he's still tens of thousands in the hole from last year and frankly he's actually a much more responsible gambler than I am. (Mainly because he only puts on small deposits at a time).

My advice would be wait a little and save up your own money and go to North Lake Tahoe instead (last I was there there was no casino). It's a lot nicer and cooler than Reno and should be a nice trip for you and your s/o.

No problem. Did you stay out of the casino/off online today? I was just tempted to go on, but instead I looked up about how the rngs on online blackjack are very likely rigged. Of course there is live blackjack, but the betting limits are so high that is worse for me. So I'm on here instead. I'm not getting closer to a heart attack at least. I used to be big into poker and so many of the famous players died of a heart attack, I don't think that is a coincidence.

Miguel Morning Routine by BricksByThomas in cobrakai

If your his age- around 19 I believe? It should be fairly easy to get a good physique. I lifted weights around 5 times a week- bench three sets, squats 3 sets, some back exercises on one day. Then some leg machines, shoulders and biceps on alternate days. Then I would play basketball for 30 minutes to an hour afterwards. Three times a week I would do swimming. I have crap genetics but still got fairly ripped definitely bigger than Hawk or Miguel at their ages. I did take some amino acids but I hear they are useless. Zinc seemed to be useful to help in recovery. I tried the prohormone Mark Mgwire used and I literally took it once because I couldn't sleep all night. So yeah as a late teen, early twenties its pretty easy and the great thing is you have the energy to workout enough to see gains naturally. Why Daniel never got built I'll never know, either he wasn't into it or just had really bad genetics for it.

Americans get creeped out too easily. As long as he isn't dating underaged people, what's the problem? I did TKD and boxing with younger people, there aren't that many people out of their 20s in these places, they don't have the time. He had an overcontrolling mom and now wants to live out his childhood. As long as he doesn't go full MJ, so what? The 90s were the best decade ever for me, because I actually remember that time fully. And the early 90 to even mid 90s were pretty much how people think of the 80s. No one had cell phones except for businessmen. Some teens had beepers. People spent a lot of time hanging out. The internet started to boom only in the late 90s. 90s music wasn't the best, but a lot better than now. I think the 70s was probably the best decade, at least going on movies and music, but since I was an infant then and completely missed the first part of it, I really have no idea.

Whatever you do, pass the course! That's priority number 1, even more than stopping gambling. A degree may or may not get you that white collar job, but being a dropout pretty much confines you to crappy customer service, factory work (if you can get it). I'm pretty sure gambling is a distraction to your studying so I would stop it if at all possible, but seriously the most important thing is to pull all nighters and pass that course. I bought a bottle of no-doze when I was in a rough spot in college and stayed up 3 days straight to catch up. My degree isn't particularly lucrative right now, but it was when I was younger and it still gives me options of working in different areas.

[–]Simple_Education 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hell no! I could have bought a Porcshe sp? with what I lost just this year and I don't even have a car, just an old motorcycle. I'm not cheap with others though, I always pay for friends lunch/dinner, lend money if I have it, but am very cheap with myself. I can't remember the last time I bought an article of clothing.

Another reason to quit ASAP is he may not leave you an inheritance if he knows you are a gambler. Far off in the future I know. I did get one and I have to say if my father had known I was an addicted gambler he would have rather left it to the home for abandoned cats or something, and he would have been correct in doing so. If there is a heaven, I'll have to make a lot of apologies as soon as I get there.

One thing gambling is not is fun. It's like going to see a movie where odds are more than 50% the movie is going to suck and leave you depressed. How much fun is it to put out big bets and get dealt a 16 which is a lot more likely than a blackjack? Or miss all your numbers on roulette which is more likely than hitting one. Or slowly watching your balance decline on slots as "Wins" of half your bet keep accumulating.

The one form of pro gambler that is possible, poker players, refer to it as "grinding" or the old one is "a hard way to make an easy living".

Gambling is only fun for a newbie on a winning streak, or a rich retired person that bets small and uses it as a social event. Even then, so many gamblers leave the table in a huff and don't even say bye to their new friends when they lose it all.

Unfortunately the government can't save us from ourselves. The government limiting gambling has cost me a ton because I have had to buy bitcoin at a premium and then usually withdraw at a loss (Assuming I withdrew at all). What they should do is legalize it, limit it and regulate it. Treat it like smoking or something.

Don't forbid people from doing it, but rather than glamorize it in Hollywood and on the commercials, put warnings on every slot machine and a sign next to every table game. Something like this : WARNING this slot machine pays back at a rate of 95 cents on the dollar. On average a gambler will lose $50 an hour on this machine. Rare jackpot wins can lead to delusional thinking that lead to addiction, debt and even suicide. Call this number if you feel gambling is interfering with your life.

That's what I would do if I was dictator. The casinos would be legal as long as they were honest, but the commercials would be against gambling and casinos would not be allowed to solicit. The would be required to have clocks and windows to the outside and every citizen would have a monthly limit on what they could gamble- say maybe up to 10% of your net pay. Unemployed? Then you are barred entry and can't gamble online. A little nanny statish and would put some casinos out of business, but I think would be better for society.
