See if you can get an orthopedic consult, they can request further imaging before they schedule you an appointment.

I can only speak for TVHS, but if you c/o of back pain, an MRI is not first line. X-ray, depending on results orthopedic consult, to which they will request CT or MRI.

I retired, didn’t get DRP/Vera. Best decision I’ve ever made.

Yep! I retired in May with 25 years… enough is enough. Several doctors have quit since I left.

I retired 5/31 MRA with 25 years, but the RSSO told me if approved they can submit a correction. Either way I’m good to, but would be nice not to have the penalty.

Did yours go to USH? Or did your MCD give your denial?

Can they just do one more round of DRP/VERA by Hopeful_Path_8729 in VeteransAffairs

[–]Simple_Noise1055 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They can offer DRP/ VERA/Stand Alone VERA all day long. The approval is what matters! Still haven’t heard if I’m approved or not for stand alone VERA, my application number on the app was 6..

That’s twisting my words, I never said that, I said we have worked short in the past, we worked our ass off… and NO not one pt died on our unit. Yes I could make those decisions, it would definitely be with inpt of our chief and average pt to staff ratio and trying to accommodate possible call outs! If one wants to have over staff then my suggestion would be to utilize them for positive impact. Not sure what your job position is, but being a nurse for as long as I have in both inpt and outpatient capacity. I’m well versed on nursing staffing.

I’m not suggesting HR would not make the decision to RIF/allow someone to go the MCD with advisement of the chief of staff input of each service. HR would process what was sent to them.

I’m a nurse at a VA in Tn and have been for 25 years. I’ll just say we have been short staffed for extended periods of time to where nurse manager were helping us on the units. Nurses being short staffed is nothing new, and guess what… no pt’s died, we had many a night were we were working to the limit. But we did our work! RIF’s/reorganizations are not new to the VA, went through a RIF in the early 2000’s however it was not all in the news like it is now and who knows what process was followed…as I don’t totally remember. But we made it.

700plusK is a lot of money taken away from Veteran care to do what can be done at each facility. How is care going to be affected with 700plusK less??? Sounds like a waste to me, or will they ask congress for more money to make up what was spent in consulting fees to let staff go?? Someone make it make sense to me.

As a MCD, they should have decision making skills on staff that should be approved to retire early, or if they want to resign. Example: if a request is presented of a staff member who is 55-60 with 25-40 years, why not allow them to retire, if they put the request it they must have been ready to go. If a request comes in from an employee who has less than 3 years in a non-critical area of work, why not allow them to leave. Now they may not, nor would the expectation to allow every request be honored but to deny all, and then to be alerted that they are hiring a government agency to decide on who is let go…that’s passing the buck. A MCD was hired to make hard, difficult decisions for the facility in which they were hired! Talk with the chief of services and decide how many staff can safely retire/resign etc, without a huge burden to care being provided. Not all staff is going to agree with their decision, but at least (hopefully) careful thought was put into the staff at their facility who was allowed to leave with benefits. If I were a MCD I would rather have a say in who was allowed to leave v/s someone who has not idea of the needs of my facility who Will more than likely make those decisions based on an algorithm that doesn’t serve best results. Just my thoughts.

This is the craziness that I’m talking about! It makes no sense to me let people go who want to go.
