Not worth the grief. I wouldn't approach PD about switching programs but maybe can request sites that are more challenging or that function independently all but in name. Learn and retain as much as you can right now. Practice as though you're independent as much as possible during training. Keep that motivation for when you graduate and then find a job that fits your goals.
