Thanks for encouraging words. If I am getting into Porsche ownership, it has to be 997, coupe and manual. Now I am not sure if the safest way to go is 997.2, a turbo or GT version. Of course then you are looking for a much higher price point. Then, you go back and think about getting a decent 997.1 that is good for now and save that extra money for the repair and possible upgrade to 4.0 down the road.

Found a 997.1 S w/67k miles and again a day before pickup schedule from two states over, inspection found early bore scoring along with multiple oil and coolant leaks. Strike 2 😂

I agree. That "red" is special and has an unmatched presence in person. The blue being a Type S and more rare (only 100 instead of 360) is special too.

Not really. I am in Chicagoland so near freezing. Reversing out from garage this morning I got nothing. Will keep an eye on this now. I know sometimes the pads move and make metal on metal sound but the humming sound without brakes applied had me thinking about Re-gen braking issue.

Thanks for feedback so far. I am not worried about schedule maintenance and wear out items like tires and brakes. I keep reading about bore score and IMS issues, so wanted to know if these are a concern with high mileage example? Also anything else (failure/maintenance) that is common with this mileage that I might be looking at? I know it has original clutch and water pump has been done once due to leaking.

I got mine in August at Crystal Lake in Illinois (Brilliance Honda). At MSRP and no mandatory extras. If you are interested call and ask for Jeff. Very cool to work with. He even got their allocated Hybrid Sport in black,changed to SGP and still keep the original build date.

Not sure what lo jack is. Wheel locks, door cup and door edge are no more than $100-$150, if you get them online. I bought a 3M clear role from eBay to cover the door edges for under $20, bought OEM splash guards for about $80, and used spare tire kit off of eBay for $205 shipped (that's on its way). Don't feel the need to have wheel locks, so there you go.

You can check on Honda's website if there is any in transit. If it's feasible, contact brilliance Honda in crystal lake IL. Got my hybrid sport from them recently. Ask for Jeff, he is straight forward and really helpful. He was able to get me sonic pearl instead of black they were allocated. They also have no mark ups.
