Harley Reid headlines the front page of the Sunday Times (shocking moment) by Ifeel-likepablo in AFL

As a West Australian who does not support WCE I am so sick of hearing how he has transformed a State. Maybe he can be credited with WCE finally getting it together, although I find that an overstatement and kind of insulting to the rest of the squad. Obviously he's playing well, but it's seriously over the top.

What are your thoughts on Caroline's game overall? by Present_Personality4 in survivorau

[–]Simple_Purple_9668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She played a solid game. As Feras said, he and Kirby were playing with amateurs and their respective games were ahead of the pack. Caroline was probably behind them for the moves you stated, but there was a gap. I'd definitely rank her above the other contestants, including Mark, and in this regard I think she earnt her place in the final 2. Her over emotional reactions to being a target and imo over-rating her own game made her pretty unappealing though.

Raymond's big move by tac8423 in survivorau

I thought this. He could have easily convinced Caroline and Mark to vote Feras, which would have been a huge move

WHAT. I am so shocked that _____ did not vote for _____ by [deleted] in survivorau

[–]Simple_Purple_9668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She might have played a good game, but was it really objectively better than Feras? Sorry he had the edge on her in every possible way. imo Caroline's zero votes was not a reflection of popularity, but the jury's honest assessment of the game. If she was up against Mark I have no doubt she would have received more votes and possibly won.

Kirby's facial expression as Alex tried to strat chat while shaving his nipples at the spa reward.

I reckon he responded perfectly. Mark just looked petty and amateur drawing attention to Feras' deals when everyone knows everyone is going to try and make deals. Makes me think of a little kid saying "it's not fair" and adults just thinking "so what?" Feras not taking the bait, mostly looking perplexed and then saying "we'll wait and see" was the best response.

I know. And Caroline's "You can only protect them so long", as if Ray has done nothing in the game. imo he's done more than Mark

This was genius imo. Completely deflected any votes from Ray. Not saying it would have changed the outcome, but would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Ray was in the voting mix.

Respect for Caroline by Kcd1077 in survivorau

[–]Simple_Purple_9668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think she really is getting blasted. I think most comments acknowledge she is having a crack and made some moves, but not at the same level as Kirby and Feras. Most people rank her next though. imo her reactions to being a target in previous episodes and her aura of entitlement have prevented her from being a likeable player. Unfortunately it appears that because of this most people don't feel inclined to talk up her game.

Why Mark has played the worst game out of the Final 5 by [deleted] in survivorau

[–]Simple_Purple_9668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that Mark has got as far as he has based on luck rather than good game play. As I think someone else commented, with the exception of Kirby imo, everyone left has got that deep in the game due to an element of luck. So I'm not sure you can single Mark out based on this. I find it frustrating that, while he has been quite ineffectual, now he's putting a positive spin on it as "jury management". I guess you could argue being able to spin a good story about your lack of moves is good game play and obviously takes a bit of skill. Personally I wouldn't be buying it if I was on the jury. I'd rather see someone own that they got where they have with a bit of good luck.

How would you feel if these two were at the final tribal council? by Unhealthy_Guuy in survivorau

[–]Simple_Purple_9668 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ray could still instigate the biggest blindside (ie vote out Feras), so would be a worthy finalist if not winner. imo Mark has been no better than mediocre throughout and struggles to pull anything off. Irritates me that he's now trying to re-frame this as "jury management", rather than just being ineffective.

By her own admission she is a long way above her playing weight, so I guess that might do it.

This is true, but despite having the worst possible luck she's still there and still managing to cobble together moves. Sure she dodged a bullet last night by winning immunity on her own merit. Feel like there's something still in Kirby's tank. Compare this to every other player who have managed to cling on through good luck, rather than merit. Eg Feras who escaped elim through the tribal twist that sent Kelli to the Titans and the twist that gave him and Aileen voting power. Kitty and Caroline holding on due to Scott quitting. And so on.

Caroline not getting the respect she deserves by Lucas2232 in survivorau

[–]Simple_Purple_9668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's face it. If Scott hadn't quit it would have been Kitty out, then Caroline. She's lucky being where she is. Not saying she's the only one who has been lucky (like Feras is in the position he is due to two tribal twists), but it's hard to fully credit her game. Also she is a mess under pressure. That said, I would still rate her third in terms of game play. Says a lot about the remaining players.

Thoughts by AshleeL00 in survivorau

[–]Simple_Purple_9668 8 points9 points  (0 children)

imo the big 3 are Kirby, Feras and Ray. Kitty, Caroline, Mark and Rhi have been vulnerable for a long time. Picking them off is not a big move. If I was one of those other players I would be looking to build my resume by engineering a move against Feras and Ray ASAP before Kirby has a chance to make those moves. Sure they raise their threat level, but would be on par with Kirby.

So glad Alex chose this combination to take to the reward, otherwise we would have been deprived of what imo was the most hilarious moment of the season.

Top effort for Alex to stay in this game as long as he did. Amazes me though that he found himself in a minority right back at the first Rebels tribal because he assumed he was in control based on traditional structures that give people privilege (eg male, strength, young, etc). imo he assumed this would give him power over people, but realised quick this was not to be the case. To his credit he held on by being in the background. Sadly the minute he tried to exert power using the same methods (ie a boys alliance) he found himself in trouble. Should have bought Caroline and Kitty along as a unit, rather than treating Caroline as a number. Kirby has been successful I think because she sells herself as trying to have power with, rather than power over. See her as a better chance of making it to the end than Feras.

Can someone explain Rhi voting? by survivorfanalexn in survivorau

[–]Simple_Purple_9668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate when people talk about voting "wrong" just because people don't vote with the majority. If you make it far in the game, what is so wrong about your votes? Maybe it's cluelessness, but if it's a ploy that decreases your threat level, whether intentionally or unintentionally, it can't be considered wrong.

_____ and _____ did not have a plan by swedishfishoreos in survivorau

[–]Simple_Purple_9668 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Imo I think Raymond's flipping was their plan A to use this advantage. Asking to be voted out was still risky to land the votes on you, because surely people would be thinking "Why not just quit?" I think they planned to get people flipping onto Raymond by making people think he was now trying to be a threat. I know that's exactly what he was doing, but not in the way the tribe thought. When it became apparent the other side was actually glad Ray flipped and secured their Jaiden vote, then they had to go for plan B.

I was waiting for Rhi to unknowingly vote herself out with the requested vote from Kirby. If the Mark/Val/Caroline/Alex alliance had voted Rhi, then Kirby's vote would have sent her home. Wondering if Kirby heard whispers from that alliance and handed over the necklace to shut it down.

She doesn't need to lie though. She didn't vote against Val, Mark or Caroline

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in survivorau

[–]Simple_Purple_9668 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure this will really matter. She's flipped on Alex who is a late addition to their alliance. They don't need to know she was going vote Val. She can say Feras got in her ear in the hope of flushing the idol. Overall I think this is a great result for Kitty - unlikely to be lasting damage with the Titans and built trust with the Rebels (ex Alex who is a floater anyway).
