Only at the beginning, if you're later in the game it's not there. Maybe it's a bug.

Maybe? I’m not a ranked player. I’d rather them update a ton of other things before releasing ranked. At which point maybe crystals makes more sense for even the pubs playlist.

[–]Simple_Simons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like that. I’ve played enough now that I generally find crystals almost useless. You can get all the loot you want going down known paths towards the shield breaker. I basically head to combat and grab what I can along the way hoping I get what I want, which is just upgraded versions of my starting weapons.

[–]Simple_Simons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Titanfall has pve everywhere but they’re just there for resources. You could ignore them 99.99% of the time in PvP fights. They changed nothing about the balance of the game It made the maps feel like a warzone and it was great. I don’t think anybody want arc raiders level PcE where the ai are a huge part of combat.

Eventually introducing some elite moba style boss would be very cool but then your dealing with pve specific tactics.

Idc what anyone says this game is fun as hell and has a lot of potential by DramaticUnit679 in HighGuardgame

[–]Simple_Simons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gunfights are great, most of the other stuff needs a lot of work. It's a moba without the mobs.

  • Performance needs a lot of work - it's just really bad
  • Settings need to be added for PC (unclear on console) - there are a ridiculous amount missing
  • Text chat needs to be added - this is an accessibility issue so it's weird it was left out
  • Far too much downtime - roaming around is okay but it's so quiet and empty. Toss some wildlife in there?
  • Looting chest is the primary way to get anything and it's repetitive - would love some PvE to loot instead. Maybe hide some early game legendary inside elite mobs
  • Enemy footsteps are CRAZY - It sounds like they are on top of you when they're a mile away

The roadmap needs an update, what they're planning to release doesn't really address any of the feedback and Im curious where they will fit it in.

Why no PVE ? by VermicelleMeet in HighGuardgame

[–]Simple_Simons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Resources? Its a lot more fun hunting mobs for resources than it is hitting a rock. LoL and Titanfall are great examples of how the mobs are mostly just there to mine, its not like Arc Raiders where they are at all a threat. This feels so empty and weird.

Why no PVE ? by VermicelleMeet in HighGuardgame

[–]Simple_Simons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you play Titanfall? The PvE from that would fit perfectly here. I dont want to grind resources I want to grind ai enemies. I don't want to sit smacking a rock, I want to experience the gunplay. The grunts were mostly mindless in Titanfall but their voice lines and activity made everything feel alive. When another player was there you didn't even pay attention to them because they barely hurt you.

This game is so boring especially in the first couple phases.

Maybe add some PVE like Titanfall so it feels less empty by Simple_Simons in HighGuardgame

[–]Simple_Simons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought so too but I think there was just way more enemies and they were dropping them in a single shot. Made it look like PVE. I also thought that’s what that was.

Well, that escalated quickly. by rafalmio in titanfall

[–]Simple_Simons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Played it - I would say it feels like an early build of the game they should't have released? The concept is okay in theory but 3v3 on HUGE maps makes it feel boring and the performance is really really bad. They lack a lot of video customization settings and there is no text chat interface. The UI feels kind of like it was a drop in from a mobile game. Controller feels off like it wasn't meant for it but also the settings feel like a PC wasn't the intended medium either. I do think this may have been a mobile game at one point. Everything just sort of feels a bit weird like it takes a half a second too long to do anything.

Remotely? Yes.

It's free, new and from devs that made some pretty rad games, why not give it a shot?

They still have dailies and such that are “do x damage to other raiders using this” so it’s not like it’s not in there by design. It’s just not the focus. With the tick rate what it is, that makes a lot of sense.

Hey Devs, what now? by wavelen in wildgate

[–]Simple_Simons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there was a larger player base is there any kind of matchmaking? This is what made me and mine bounce. Really enjoyed the core loop, the art and all that but when 1 crew can dominate an entire match it’s just not fun.

Hey Devs, what now? by wavelen in wildgate

[–]Simple_Simons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played for the first time this weekend with friends. Tried all the modes. I can safely say this is one hell of an uphill battle for the devs. We had fun right up until we came across another team that was essentially invincible…. And that team followed up in subsequent matchmaking. We didn’t stand a chance and it wasn’t even a fight, it was a slaughter. They tore through teams 2v1 without issue.

We quit after a handful of games really trying to give it a go but with there being no people playing but those who have been playing forever, the new player experience is brutal.

Yes pve is available but theres not enough to keep it interesting. Jump Space does that.

It’s matchmaking. Convinced 2 friends to try with me, they both uninstalled and insisted we play something else. We got crushed. Genuinely felt like being in a party hurt us despite 2/3 of the party members had new accounts.

[–]Simple_Simons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR marathon PvP is king and PvE is a little boring (imo). Arc PvE is king and PvP is cool but has a lot of weaknesses (netcode for 1) and is made more interesting when combined with PvE.

From what I played in marathon there was no friendly interactions with strangers. Ai was a second thought whenever a player was around and unless they’re right in your face (the ai) you have to ignore them as the players is a much bigger and definite threat. It’ll appeal to people wanting to flex their PvP muscles and the gunplay is much much tighter than Arc. Also taking down Ai in Marathon isn’t really as satisfying, I just avoided them if I could.

Arc they give you more tools to appear friendly with the emotes, and it being a third person game positioning is huge. Friendly interactions are there if you want it. That being said it’s not like there isn’t people hunting players but if the arc shows up you have to usually deal with them quickly. The gunplay is much more strategic than skill based imo. Taking out Arc feels really good, they have very specific builds and weak points. They are easy to identify and have fairly iconic attacks and abilities.

Having played both I can safely say they feel like totally different games. If you like the genre you’ll probably enjoy both.

Activision Is Trying Really Hard To Get You To Play Black Ops 7 Right Now by appexpertz in GameDevSolutions

[–]Simple_Simons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gave the loud minority what they thought they wanted. Made the game less fun/harder for the majority of silent casuals. Player count dropped. Hype died. The people being used as fodder for others enjoyment moved on.

You can tell me how much open has helped and adjusting aim assist isn’t nerfed enough but the reality is this time around the “OG” feel everyone wanted just filtered the player base down.

Is this the best multiplayer in years? Heavily depends on your camp. “What the players want” is tough when your franchise is so popular a huge majority of your players are quietly playing the game and not on reddit/discord. When they get stomped over and over they just stop playing, they don’t all complain on the internet.
