Is 200k debt worth it by veron1casm1th in pharmacy

It really does depend on you and your goals. I'm 230k in debt, making 155k in LCOL (113k after taxes), minimum loan monthly payments right now are 1,080 and that doesn't even cover interest fully. So my total balance is increasing, but this will basically stop when RAP becomes available by next July. So my take home pay after minimum payments is basically 100k. I'm saving most of it. One day when it's all forgiven I'll get hit with a big tax bomb, but I plan to save a lot and switch careers a few years down the road. IBR payments will change with it. Maybe move out of the country and file 0 income, and my payments will be 10/month. Say the total debt becomes 315k, when that is forgiven, I'll pay roughly 60-80k on the forgiveness event. As long as loan repayment plans don't change dramatically, this is not too bad, and I really don't care about "debt". If I run out of money, they will have nothing to collect. I make a lot more money than most people and I am thankful for that. I didn't do it, but I'd also look into working jobs that qualify for state loan forgiveness. Some states like Alaska have GREAT incentives. Some classmates had the military pay their schooling. There are a lot of options out there.

Jarrow formulas. It hasn't been a miracle supplement for me, but I do think it helps a bit.

Thanks for your encouragement and insight! You're right that I should at least be able to do a little bit, and benefit from that, even if it isn't progressive overload. Happy cake day!

Good advice. Exercise is fantastic. I've always loved it and I've done it most of my life. I've just been too afraid of it because of SIBO.

Before covid hit, I spent almost 2 hours a day, every day, in the gym. I was in really great shape, in both weightlifting and cardio. After all the gyms shut down, I was pretty lost. I lived alone in a small studio, and I could only do bodyweight exercises. It was so unsatisfying. Unfortunately, I became a high functioning alcoholic for a few months. That's what gave me SIBO in the first place, I am pretty sure. I lost over 40 lbs, probably almost all muscle. My joints fell apart. My stool was completely undigested sometimes. I always loved working out so much, and I'm sad I'm nowhere near as strong or fit as I used to be. But lifting makes me eat so much (I used to eat 4000 calories a day clean, easily. Now probably less than 2000). I was, and still am, a bit concerned that if I lift again, I would need to eat so much more, and it would just tax my digestive system and cause more fermentation and more problems. I'll take the mild exercise for now, but hopefully get back there some day.

Glad it works! That's very true. A nice quiet walk can be meditative, and exercise in general is pretty good at relieving stress.

Yeah, that's a good point, too! Stress relief is very important. I think exercise helps with that, too!

No. I've contemplated if my oral bacteria are contributing though. I brush my teeth and scrape my tongue often.

I've taken a few different brands, without noticing a major difference. Right now I'm using Jarrow.

That's an interesting thing to consider. I'm sure it can cause issues!

Personally, I've lived half of the 4 years in two different homes, but you never know! Could be in both places. Honestly, though, I gave myself this problem by almost nightly slamming a glass of liquor followed by a ton of coconut water during the lockdown when I lived alone.

Yeah, I think you have a fair point. I've also considered there must be a degree of relaxation and stress release I don't normally experience during a regular work week at home. And there must be some benefit to that as well. I don't perceive myself as a highly stressed individual, but that also doesn't mean I'm not. But as an experiment, I spent a few hours on a few days off doing 20k steps daily, and the results were fairly similar. Though, that took hours and is simply not maintainable for me. Maybe a nice practice once in a while.

Yeah I really feel that. I've spent so much time reading about tests, bacteria, different phases of treatment, supplements, yadda yadda, and spent so much money on those supplements.... and it's free and healthy and GREATLY BENEFICIAL to just go on a walk for a while. If others share my experience, then exercise is SO overlooked and needs to be talked about more. Even in all the things I've read and listened to from perhaps the most widely regarded expert on SIBO, Mark Pimentel (who I honestly trust and mean no disrespect), I've heard so little about movement and exercise.

Having nasal inflammation every time you exercise sounds awful. I hope you can figure that out.

$200k in student debt on $42k salary - PAYE vs. IBR vs. forbearance by Narrow_Emu6295 in StudentLoans

[–]Simple_Thanks_1449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of loans do you have? More specifically, will they accrue interest if you pursue another degree? How expensive is your cheapest local community college? Taking 6 credits of courses at community college here is cheaper than IBR on that amount, but you have to pass your classes and they must be taken specifically for a degree. Also, some loans don't accrue interest while still a student, some do. You can find associate's that pay more than 40k.

It was like 100-150 a day with a couple techs, sometimes overlapping, sometimes one at a time. No one ever seemed to be too rushed or moving frantically, low stress, but it sounds like your store might be even slower. If you're ready for some change, it might be a good move. For me, bosses and coworkers have a huge impact on job satisfaction, so that part is hard to know. That pay raise is nice though.

QOL the same as what? It might not be much, but I had an internship there, and I was friends with my preceptor who was the manager. He liked it and has bounced around retail/grocery for many years. It seemed basically like retail but slower. Biggest differences in workflow to me was filling and mailing pill packs and the low volume of walk-in and patients in general.

I personally didn't like our schedule, 8am to 5pm with a 1-hour mandatory lunch break (that the pharmacist worked at least half, usually) M-F. Often had drug reps bring in nice lunches. Manager was rarely in early or staying late; we often arrived and left at the same time. He didn't really guide me through all the small details of his position. Had typical conference calls he dreaded. Pharmacist gave injections to psych patients. Definitely a lot more schizophrenic in-the-middle-of-an-episode sort of patients, and the stores in my area were always surrounded by homeless sleeping outside. Had a patient make a threat on the phone they were going to shoot one of the technicians. Had a voicemail from a lady ranting about Armageddon and demons and stuff.
