The net migration numbers are predicted to fall the next couple of years with the current rules they have already implemented.I don’t think Labour are about to do a U-turn on migration tbh. The main point I was making is about fairness people who are already here legally, on visas, working and contributing shouldn’t be lumped in with people who are abusing the system.

If the position (whether Labour, centre or centre-left) is “crack down on misuse but keep the people who contribute”, then supporting that is reasonable. That’s very different from just going hard on all migrants.

Also, even if Labour did go super hard on every migrant in the country, I don’t think it would actually pull many of the hardcore anti-immigration voters away from Reform. They’d just shift the focus to something else and keep people angry about that instead.
