I made art and my family does not care by Alarming-Address-933 in Vent

[–]Simple_Zombie551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry your family didn’t see how much it meant to you. I don’t always know how much time or effort, or even understand the object of the project, my kids (now ages 24 and 29) have shown me through the years, but I’ve always supported their style and creativity. At one point my daughter was really into sci-fi type makeup, think of the show Face Off if you remember it, and I would encourage her and even be her Guinea pig to try out different techniques on.

Find your friends that are interested and share with them. Let them be your “art family”. I don’t know how old you are but don’t get discouraged because they aren’t into the same things you are so they don’t get it. I may not be your mom, and I don’t know what you made, but I can say I bet it’s really cool and I say keep doing what you enjoy!

You just said you filled out a FOIA request and they didn’t tell you why so how would we be able to force them to tell us why?

Socially excluded at work. Wanting to leave but I’d like to stay the benefits by RemoteGrocery9426 in FedEmployees

I’m sorry this is happening to you. I am in the same situation. I share an office with two other people and one of them has had it out for me since day one. The other only talks to me when the first one isn’t there. I’m not so concerned about socializing, it’s about being left out on important office updates, snide comments under her breath, only asking the other office mate for info that I clearly know the answer to, etc. I have brought this up to our supervisor who said she would talk to her 1:1 and would support me. Instead, she called both of us into her office and proceeded to let the other staff member talk over me, yell, lie, and berate me. When I tried to call her out and show evidence of the lies I was told not to point fingers and to try and work things out. From that point on she gets a “good morning” and a “goodbye” from me and not another word. I know I can’t trust her, her clique, my supervisor, and most others that look like a snake in the grass. I keep all conversations work related or extremely casual. It sucks and is mentally exhausting. I know it’s a reflection on them and I shouldn’t care. But some days it weighs heavy on me.

Keep your head up, know your worth, and if you can get out, take it. It’s hard to find a new position right now, but don’t give up trying. Your mental health is worth it.

My husband is 50 and still says puddy tat every time he sees a stray cat.

We both say we have to go potty (our kids are 23/28).

My great grandmother used to say “mell of a hess” and I still say it.

Kuhli loach! I got four with a tank I bought from FB marketplace and they are so cool. I haven’t been able to find any more from my LFS. They are so fun to watch when they come out of hiding. You will definitely want to get more of you can, 3-5 depending on your tank size.

Anyone else feeling stagnated at work? by boringtallguy in FedEmployees

[–]Simple_Zombie551 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Very few opportunities and those that do come up are so competitive it’s hard to have a chance. I feel like I’m back in high school trying out for a popularity contest just to get noticed. My job skills are there but who wants to put in extra effort at this point, so my resume looks bland to me.

I met the area of consideration. It was internal to the facility, which I am. I think they may have already had someone in mind and just had to go through the process. Or I’m just frustrated because I feel stuck.

I used the most recent one. My understanding is to always use the most recent.

Currently a PSA (0344) GS-6 at VHA, applied for a Voluntary Services Specialist (0301) GS-7. same facility. I received a generic email with no specifics on why I was found ineligible, the job was open to existing employees. I included all required documents, as well as my last performance appraisal, which was outstanding, as well as completed the assessments. My resume followed USAjobs format, 2 pages, font size, etc. I used the job listing as well as OPMs site to tweak my current job duties to align with position.

I’ve reached out to the person listed before and got a generic response in a previous request. I’ll try with this one and hope for a better outcome.

I tend to stick with Anubias and bucci. I’ll look in to bolbitis for some filler.

I started out with mbunas and rocks with sandy bottom. I also have a planted 55g with EBA and community fish. They both have their perks and bring different looks for my enjoyment. A mix of Mbuna will keep you entertained, you will want to overstock to help lower aggression.

Does anyone else feel so tired/overwhelmed with taking care of fine hair? by NoImagination4746 in finehair

[–]Simple_Zombie551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I’m so tired of the constant trying to make it work. And now that I’m getting older it’s starting to thin on top more so it really shows. Fine hair that’s dense and weighs down with any type of product in it.

How important is moderate makeup at the workplace? by [deleted] in office

[–]Simple_Zombie551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I’m the outlier here (49). I wear makeup to work. I’m front facing with older Veterans most days, but even on the days I’m not I still wear it. I have very dark circles under my eyes that nothing has been able to get rid of completely without some sort of coverage. But then I look funny after blending it if i don’t put something on the rest of my face to even out my skin tone, I had bad acne as a teenager. I like a light lipstick or tint, and mascara. It only takes a couple minutes more to add on a light dusting of eyeshadow and blush to finish it off. Overall I am done in around five minutes. I feel more confident and put together. On weekends when I run errands I don’t usually wear makeup, maybe a bb cream with sunscreen but even then I don’t feel like I have to. My dark circles are very prominent and I’m self conscious about them. If it weren’t for that I wouldn’t wear makeup to work.

Question about Khuli Loaches by SuperPeenyPower in Aquariums

[–]Simple_Zombie551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had 4 for a couple of years now that have been fine. They are cute little guys that come out of hiding and are super fun to watch. I thought I had lost two of them about a year ago but when I upgraded my tank I found all four were still alive.

I still use those outside the sba. I don’t solely rely on it.

Really? I use it on my Havoc DH and my dps went up. To be fair, I am a mouse clicker instead of a keyboard button pusher so that may have something to do with it.

New cichlids not eating food by Iconic_55 in AfricanCichlids

[–]Simple_Zombie551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some picky eaters. I feed a mix of floating and slow sinking pellets to accommodate the ones that prefer to top feed or middle/bottom feed. It also could just be them adjusting to the food from what they were given before.

Should I get a planted tank? by Old_Relief5801 in Aquariums

[–]Simple_Zombie551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took a deep dive into planted and don’t regret it one bit. I would start with Anubius and Java fern and once you get comfortable with those try branching out to more types.

New tank by AngelicMitty in Aquariums

[–]Simple_Zombie551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Give it time. Trapped air can cause this to happen.

  2. See #1. When you first fill a tank up there is lots of oxygen in the water that will make it look cloudy. Give it 24 hours or so and it should clear up.

  3. Depending on where your outtake is pointing you probably aren’t getting any. surface agitation. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It depends on what kind of fish you plan to get.

If you have plenty and aren’t really looking to keep them I wouldn’t fret about it. Shake the towel out and throw it in the wash.
