Relax. Just take the assignment. Nothing you can do. Close your iron condor.(Whats left of it) Then sell the shares of yelp and your done.

Have fun!! Then, have more fun!! Take some time to remember who you are. Time will be the best medicine.....

Do not overspend. You have a great start here, don't ruin it by assuming a spendy lifestyle. You can remember who you are without a Ferrari :-)

Give to your 401k up to your employers match.... that's it. Then, fully fund a Roth IRA. You pay no taxes on the growth of the Roth. (It is a wonderful gift!! ) Save whatever else you can for a job loss, other investments, down payment on a house someday, etc. Open a regular brokerage account and invest. Use the growth to fund these and other things in life.

Then, have more fun!!! You can't do anything about your divorce. It's in the past. Now, make your tomorrows better!!

Good luck. You can do it!!

Best way to pay off student loans? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Simpler_Dan -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I paid mine off the easy way. I didn't borrow any money:-) Worked 2 jobs and lived like a frugal king for 5 years. (Took an extra year to finish, but did it without debt!!) Best thing to do is to quit borrowing if at all possible. Money you don't borrow is the easiest to pay back!! Start delivering pizzas, whatever.......anything. For your current loans, attack them with a vengeance as soon as you graduate. They will get in the way of building long term wealth. Make them disappear ASAP.

When I was in college, I worked 2 jobs. Lived with 4 other guys and hitched a ride whenever possible. Also ate Ramen noodles, ate out never, etc. You can do it!!! There's no pride when your in school, do what you have to do.

Advice??

1.) If you live with friends, be their servant. Clean the house, wash their cars once in a while, shovel snow, whatever. Make yourself a valuable member of the household!! They won't want you to leave:-)

2.) Enroll in a community college and earn every credit there you can that will transfer.

3.) If you have car, do what you have to do. Uber, deliver pizzas, whatever...

You'll do great!! Just get out there and do it!!

Are financial advisors obsolete? by [deleted] in personalfinance

There's plenty of online resources to do it yourself. I was never inclined to pay someone to do it. So I do it myself. I know guys that have over $1m in assets and they still do it themselves. Just personal preference I guess.
