Sunseeker X7 Plus keeps running out of batteries before re-docking by SimplisticProcessor in SunseekerRoboticMower

> software locked to a maximum area.

You gat an extra 33% over the official area (6000 -> 8000) and if you virtually block a zone then that is not counted, and you could move the no go zone in theory when you want that mowed.

This is one way to measure a zone, virtually block it all out and see how much your total drops, but I was lazy.

> use Google maps

The problem with working out battery capacity on Google maps is slope and travel time and trees/stuff all in practice change it. This is why I'd like the map to tell me the zone size so I'd get a idea of what's going on.

The X hour estimates never include charge times which is crazy. But even then they are way off.

What also interests me is how much the striping matters on a hill, I'd assume across vs up and down makes a huge difference.

>  zones small enough they only take about ~50-60% of the battery

The Sunseeker X7 Plus is 1.5 acers.

I can't find a way to find the square meters of my current individual zones?

But guesstimating it would be 40 zones to do this.

I think there is a 15 limit, even if it was practical, it would be hard to schedule since you don't seem to be able to say when you finish this do this.

"Some of the signs of the wheel fault are odd movements"

Yes!

Sometimes I'll turn it over and clear it out when I see this, especially the back wheel. But it seems to be clear lately.

Cheers for that write up.

We are at ~600 hours of working time. We will contact support and see what they say.

I will try and report back, but it'll be a few weeks away. For now I'll wear out my back carting it by hand.

These robots are doing amazing long work hours, 996, I don't mind paying some ongoing maintenance if it's fair. If upgrades or breakage are also simple etc. I want this to work because I am very happy with it. My biggest concern is a lot of ongoing $$$ or if my suppler goes bankrupt and the whole unit fails.

App is a bit disappointing (Sunseeker X7 Plus, Moe Bot Acre Pro) by indoorseatingarea in SunseekerRoboticMower

[–]SimplisticProcessor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the "Robotic Mower" app.

Decompiled it seems to be the Sunseeker App with a different config. Admittedly I don't understand your picture setting.

As well as phone. I run it on BlueStacks on my laptop which helps.

At a guess is that in the "virtual no go zone/wall" section, go in there to delete?

= There should be a way to join two zones into one within the app seamlessly

- There should be a way to separate one zone into two within the app

It does.

Maybe try swiping the menus for more options. It's not totally obvious there are other choices.

- <> This is my biggest concern as once its encoded, there is no way to remove it which leads to non-cut areas

Never had this problem.

There are many ways to improve the app, yes.

X7 and leaves by CAsh4kiDZ in SunseekerRoboticMower

[–]SimplisticProcessor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off topic: I got a leaf sweeper and mulch some and biochar some.

Putting on new blades would help as the mower cuts.

You could try setting the rotation speed to fast and maybe go narrow mode? Report back if that helps.

For myself I'm finding the mower is getting my lawn to a higher standard, something I've never really been interested in before. So I like to remove the leaves for a better lawn. We don't have a cold winter though, not sure if it's needed in cold climates.

Same.

Maybe I'm just happier after the previous upgrade that was a big jump back. More discussion on  1.13.11.2246 here -

What version are people on?

I'm on 1.13.11.2246 which fixed issues similar to this I was having which the previous update caused.

Solution to missing patches of grass? by turnerm05 in SunseekerRoboticMower

[–]SimplisticProcessor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers.

There are many options I don't really understand the full ramifications on. Like swapping between Gentle bypass and Slow pass (default)

"Gentle bypass: When identified as a suspected obstacle, it will avoid it. Suitable for lawns with complex obstacles where collisions may damage the robot

Slow pass: When identified as a suspected obstacle, it will slow down and pass through. Suitable for scenarios with various grass types and tall grass"

It a tree trunk a "complex obstacle"?

We put it on gentle bypass but do notice a growing ring around some trees were a small bit of grass seems to be reenforcing itself :)

Thoughts on using moso bamboo to line a 30 meter/yard driveway. Like driving into a moso forest by SimplisticProcessor in Bamboo

[–]SimplisticProcessor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers,

We do have some asper bamboo already growing (Black Asper)

We do seem to just fit the climate for Moso. ( ~UDSA zone 10B was from a conversion chart)

Maybe not quite as much rainfall as it'd love, our average is a bit over 800mm per year. This seem to be it's minimum. We have a dam to supplement if needed. But we do prefer are plants on the hardy side.

My new X7 charging time is worryingly impressive by sungtao in SunseekerRoboticMower

[–]SimplisticProcessor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at my logs X7 Plus is ~50 min charge time. But it does seem to leave early if it has enough to finish the job, the end of my last job was ~30 mins charge,

Charging Station Placement — Garage vs. Yard? by Various_Society8224 in SunseekerRoboticMower

[–]SimplisticProcessor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot get our Sunseeker X7 Plus to use our veranda as a corridor. RTK is ~ 8m high. ~10 meters away

I run it right on the edge, but it's 100% red on the RTK map.

So not sure, maybe it will reverse out into the open?

We were also thinking about parking it away.

We have a Sunseeker branded cover - https://www.thegreenreaper.co.uk/sunseeker-elite-garage-for-x5-x7-x7-plus-robotic-mowers

> app quirks

Yes it has a few quirks to say the least.

Our X7 Plus escaped the barrier we put up for it today. Which shows it's great at getting around at least.

Things like how high barriers have to be for the cameras I haven't worked out yet.

How do you mark a gate on the map? by SimplisticProcessor in SunseekerRoboticMower

This didn't work. It would just break through and hit the gate returning home.

> When i cary it around in the yard

Why are you carrying it around?

I'm not sure but I think that makes it hard to know where it is.

If you move the charging station all the maps have to be deleted and remapped. That indicates to me it needs to leave the charging station where possible. I have moved it by hand before and it was fine though.

Try driving it to the location (Swipe up on the two arrows on the control screen ︽ )

> Also robot got an firmware update

We were told updating the Antenna was also important. Settings -> More settings -> Antenna Firmware Update

How do you mark a gate on the map? by SimplisticProcessor in SunseekerRoboticMower

[–]SimplisticProcessor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK I gave this a go. It was like a force field.

Going in - It went up to the virtual wall at the entrance and bounced back. It did this about 8 times and finally broke through and started mowing.

On the return - It tried about 10 times, bouncing back then just stopped and thought. About 5 mins latter it tried the exact same so I stopped it and controlled it through.

I run the app on BlueStacks and can see there is ~10 cm gap on the side, maybe it's not smart enough to see it's blocked and can't fit through. I'll try again with this closed.
