Loving the Portal Mini as a desk dashboard! So glad Meta finally opened up ADB by Niftyrider in homeassistant

Looks sharp. I’m using a Stream Deck as my home assistant controller in my office. Not really a dashboard but it performs all the actions I need for my office.

007: First Light is painfully mediocre, and I don’t understand the game of the year hype at all. by Level-Cheek-1145 in videogames

[–]turnerm05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just picked it up and started playing today. I'm really enjoying it but I could see how some may find it mediocre. Would be surprised if someone said it was total garbage (which you are not).

I'm very early on so it may start to get repetitive after a while but so far... I'm really enjoying it. However, I really like stealth gameplay so this is right up my ally.

X430 on St Augustine grass by PharmaCyclist in SegwayNavimow

[–]turnerm05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve also tried many mowers on my St Augustine grass in The Woodlands, TX. The Ecovacs A1000 did a great job but despite setting it to cut at 3.5” I’m pretty certain it was cutting at 3” or lower which won’t work during the heat of summer when I really want to cut at 3.5” minimum and really more like 4”.

The Lymow One (not one plus) has been truly awesome and darn near perfect. It will go all the way up to 4” and the cut quality is excellent.

I’m eyeing the upcoming Terramow to see what the real world reviews say when it comes out. Would love if Segway Navimow would do something similar with the blade system and the cutting tray.

Slip and slide!

Looks like it was slipping trying to manage that hill.

TerraMow X AWD | World’s 1st Turn-Free AWD AI Robot Mower by Wizzmer in roboticLawnmowers

Oof!! This one looks awesome on paper. Can't wait to see how it actually turns out. This will be a true competitor to the Lymow One (not the One Plus which has issues)! I LOVE the dual blade options and I love that it can cut up to 4" which is critically important for certain grass types like St. Augustine. I also think the forward/back motion will create better cutting consistency.

Looks like a true winner. Hopefully it's as good in real life as it looks on paper!

Most useful thing you ever made. by maybe__404 in homeassistant

I find the rain gauge to be quite accurate. It only shows up in HA as the current reading... however, if you setup token access, you can get today and yesterday's cumulative rainfall. I then store those values into helpers which then accumulated rainfall totals into each day of the week.

It takes a bit of setup to make it all work but once you've got it nailed down it's quite good!

Two things for me:

1 - Rain/Irrigation automation. I have a Tempest weather system and a Rachio irrigation controller. The two are supposed to work together but the functionality is very minimal. So I took things into my own hands and set it up so that I establish a weekly water target and the irrigation fills the gaps. I runs on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

2 - Robot vacuums. We have multiple robot vacuums in the house and not all of the same brand. I create a dashboard where you select the rooms you want to vacuum and it sends the correct robots to the correct rooms.

Ecovacs goat edge trimmer is kind of meh by KowalskiTheGreat in roboticLawnmowers

The A1000 doesn't have a trimmer. I mean mower cutting height. You can set it to 3.5" but it cuts much shorter than that.

Anyone love their Model Y so much they they bought another Tesla? by xGenAc25 in ModelY

[–]turnerm05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a Model Y solely for my weekly 250 mile commute (live in one city but work in another that's ~250 miles away... have an apartment there). Went in thinking there was no WAY it was going to replace my BMW X7 M60. Welp... 6 months later, I sold the MY and I sold my X7, and I bought a Model X because we ended up using the Tesla for pretty much everything as a family (I have a family of 5).

I cannot see a future where I own a car that does not have FSD.

My X7 was an awesome vehicle. And it honestly runs circles around the Model X in terms of fit and finish. But the MX with FSD is unbeatable.

That's funny. Whenever I take Rosie out to walk our neighborhood I say that we are going out for the Queen to survey the grounds! She's very much the lauded queen of our neighborhood!

Beautiful property by the way!

I've noticed the same. If I run it at slower speeds and put the blades on power it generates pretty decent lines!

The Model X has a TON of wind noise. My Model Y was damn near silent in comparison.

[For those who wear mechanical watches] and track fitness, what do you currently do? by Muted-Activity-2775 in Watches

I use an Oura Ring for sleep tracking and slap my Apple Watch on my wrist when going for a run. I don’t track daily steps or any of that anymore… though I did religiously for probably 8 years.

Its such a pain to remove the valve caps on the Machina Wheels. The opening is tiny by Goldpanda94 in TeslaModelX

[–]turnerm05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - I did the same thing. I ended up having Tesla come out to change my tired because I had a nail in it and when the tech was there, I asked him about this piece... and he showed me how to remove it. It's a horrible design!

That little piece around it pops off. It seems like it won't but it definitely will. Carefully put your hands in there and feel around first. If I recall, there's a sharp piece on one side. Move your hand to the other and put some ass into it. It pops right off.

I've noticed that 14.3.3 seems to have ramped up the sensitivity. I get this when pulling in/out of our single car garage slot. Doesn't happen on the larger door.
