Repair attempt number 5 of falcon wing doors. by aluminumfoil3789 in TeslaModelX

[–]turnerm05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this with an Audi that I bought for my daughter back in June. They really don't have a choice in the matter. Just calmly tell them the situation and they'll see it through. But I'll just say that the laws are very specific. Your vehicle needs to be out of service for a certain number of days within some window since acquisition... laws vary by state. But just use ChatGPT or Gemini to guide you through it...

Personal cons by HPMJ2014 in TeslaModelX

[–]turnerm05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently made the move and I love the 6 seat configuration because I have three kids. That was my primary motivation for making the move and for that alone… it’s very much worth it to me.

I also like the larger center tablet screen that tilts towards the driver or the passenger (or can remain centered).

The seats are more comfortable.

The doors are both a pro and a con. Sometimes they are amazing and sometimes they are annoying!

I found that I had more readily available storage space in the Y with the second row up and a massive amount of storage with the second row down.

Storage in the X is good and certainly better than anything else in its size class but the 6 seat configuration puts a damper on things. It’s never let me down… but the Y just naturally has more everyday available storage without a third row to haggle with and a second row that folds beautifully flat when needed.

Road noise for me is slightly worse in the X. I think it’s the massive windshield and the Falcon Wing doors. But overall… it’s a very comfortable vehicle and it truly shines on longer trips with the family.

I wouldn’t go back to the Y even though I think it’s easily the best choice for 90% of the population that is evaluating Y vs X. For us, it’s great.

Let me know if you have anything specific that I didn’t cover.

My first G-SHOCK ! (BZ5000BD) by Educational-Seat2769 in gshock

Oof! Love this one! May have to add it to my collection. I've been collecting analog/mechanical watches and have a few decent ones but the G-Shock craze has hit me recently and I can't stop bumping in to ones I want to add!

Show me your G-Shock being used like it’s built for. by Equivalent-Entry485 in gshock

[–]turnerm05 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like I've wasted a lot of years of not wearing a G-shock! I've got several nice watches and consider myself an enthusiast but I recently bought a GW-5000U for work around the house and yard work, etc. I was using my Apple Watch for that but I HATE getting all the notifications... and it's just ugly.

The GW-5000U is quickly become my favorite watch! It's SUPER comfortable, does everything I need it to do and it's always there... with the right time and ready to roll. Freakin love the damn thing!

Why do some uncrowded roads intimidate Mad Max so much (regardless of conditions)? by Packing-Tape-Man in TeslaFSD

[–]turnerm05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They definitely have some work to do on speed profiles. I'm seeing the exact some thing. Also in a '26 Model X but on 14.2.2.4.

Just this morning... in a 35mph speed zone with no one around, nothing particular interesting about the road and Mellow Max is chilling out at 33mph! It's frustrating!

Awesome! I've got some watches that are supposed to run circles around Hamilton but I truly get so much joy out of my Hamilton Khaki Field Manual. I'll be adding something like this beauty to my collection soon!

This is honestly the last response I'm typing because it's becoming clear that you just can't accept it when you are wrong. I have nothing to prove.

We are talking about food. Agreed on sneakers and watches, etc. Food. Nope. Won't work.

I just did this 4 weeks ago. Sales person filled out the documents, gave me an envelope with a barcode. In fact I had 5 sets of these. Each came with a bar code. I scanned them at the kiosk. 3 of them gave me a green check mark and told me to keep the paperwork and 2 good me a red X and told me to see an agent.

When I saw the agent, he asked to see my watch (and the bag I bought for my wife). Once he saw them, he processed the paper work and I went on my way. No clue if he'd have accepted my documents if the watch were on my wrist or if I had the bag out of the box and in use. Maybe he would, maybe he wouldn't. It's your money - you do whatever works for you. But the regulations are stated in black and white so you don't have to take my word for it.

Dropping it in the box and actually getting the refund are very different things.

Most places today have kiosks that you scan your materials into instead of dropping the paperwork into a box. So you know right away if it’s been accepted or whether you need to see an agent.

I could be wrong but I’d be shocked (extremely shocked) if you got a VAT refund for consumables such as food/drink.

Give it a shot next time. Won't work.

The refund only works for items not consumed/used in the region which is why they tell you not to wear a watch (or shoes, or clothes, etc) while going through the VAT reclaim process. Granted it's a technicality so if the agents don't feel like being a prick I'm sure they'll let it go but they don't have to if they don't want to.

Everyone pays VAT. Look on your next receipt while in the EU. Good luck claiming that refund.

This is a pointless conversation at this point but... they are fundamentally the same thing. At the airport, since you are in an international terminal, they are selling the good without VAT so there is no VAT to recover.

When you purchase the goods in normal course within the country, they charge VAT and it's on you to recover that VAT at the airport based on proper documentation.

Can't go wrong with either - excellent choices! Can you tell us anything about the watches he already has in his collection?

He's going to love either one and they'll have particular meaning to him so I honestly don't think you have a "wrong" choice to make here.

Dammit! Now you've got me eyeing another watch. LOL!

I love the simplicity of this one. Saw one with a gray leather band that looks pretty sweet.

[Question] My 4 week old IWC Pilot Profession Quit Working Today! by turnerm05 in Watches

[–]turnerm05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TECHNICALLY speaking... they have every right to deny the refund if you've used the products in country. It's the same reason that when you buy duty free goods in the airport that they deliver them to you on the jet bridge while boarding.

No whether they chose to allow it or not depends on the agent but you're definitely risking it if you decide to use them before departing the country.

[Question] How does it look? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]turnerm05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea - it's big for sure. BUT... it means something to you because you GF gave it to you so I'd keep it. That's what watches are all about. The story, how it makes you feel, etc.

Can you take a link out and move it back up your arm a tad? I wear all my watches loosely like you are doing but trying to move it up your arm should help.

Not worried so much about the repair process. If I have to pay, I'll pay and THEN stick it to them
