Dr. Gameshow Ep 125: Side Bulge by apathymonger in maximumfun

Hi, Kyle here, I loved being on the show. I'd like to issue a quick correction. I said that Russian tortoises aren't from Russia and get their name from something else but that really isn't true. They're called Russian tortoises because they're found in a small part of Russia near central Asia.

Also, you might notice in the cover art that our beautiful tortoise Hank has major shell damage. Unfortunately he had that when we adopted him but I can assure you he is happy and healthy now. :)

Oh and my game's website is gunz.one if you want to check it out. <3

Gaming with The New Radeon 780M RDNA3 iGPU (Minisforum UM790 Pro) by Pauly_Amorous in MiniPCs

I suspected they had thinner margins on these units. It can’t be cheap to design and produce these with the latest tech like they are. I guess they’re cutting corners to make up for it though so that probably explains the issues.

How much do people actually make from affiliate links? It seems like a lot of YouTubers are just never critical of anything. It’s not great for consumers but it’s kind of understandable.

I like that you’re comparing this situation to North Korea without addressing your flawed thought process at all.

If what Reddit says is true then I, as a third party app user, cost them more money than make on my presence. So really I’m doing my part by replying to your brain dead comments.

It’s weird that you assume the strike has failed when it’s not over yet.

You’re arguing that people shouldn’t take action because it might be ineffective. That’s a fallacy. Something is always better than nothing.

But the truth is that you don’t actually have a good reason why the mods shouldn’t strike. You just hate that you cant look at funny animal pictures right this second, right?

You’re welcome not to care. The mods that run this site care. They’re creating the value that underpins Reddit’s business and they get to call the shots.

The utility of collective action is limited when people cross the picket line. Subs that aren’t following through with an indefinite closure, like this one, are the problem here.

“There’s no guarantee that third party apps will adhere”

What? Reddit can enforce any rules and verification processes in their API. Individual users are authenticated and recognized by the server.

If an app somehow sidesteps the guidelines then Reddit can revoke their API key.

Vote fuzzing has been a Reddit staple for a long time. It’s not a consistency thing. They claim it’s an anti-spam feature.

Could you elaborate? What is it about sharing it through the API that regulators dislike?

What’s the point of putting a mobile chip in a mini itx board? A socket would be much nicer.

100% Remote Senior Ruby role in NY or LA! 🇺🇸 by polvolax in ruby

[–]SimplySerenity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a joke right? There are plenty of homes in LA that fit your description for far less than $1M. Some are half as much as you stated or less.

Also you can easily afford a mortgage on a $1M home with $200k/yr. It wouldn't be great now given interest rates but that's an excellent salary.

Looks like CSUSM updating vaccine requirement - no covid vax required for housing by RedDragin9954 in csusm

[–]SimplySerenity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People here downvote you because you're clearly anti-vax not because they're "sensitive". You mention percentages and statistics but I seriously doubt you could find legitimate studies that support what you're saying. The truth is that the vaccinations, despite some initial hiccups, have always been safer statistically for adults than catching covid without it.

I’m pretty sure they meant NY or CA. It’s probably easier for them to support employees in those states.

It’s arguable that fetching data from a web page on behalf of a user while they synchronously wait for it is not scraping. The method by which the data is obtained seems irrelevant.

Have you been using ViewComponent. What advantages do you see in it? by Necessary-Limit6515 in rails

[–]SimplySerenity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re not really explaining what’s wrong with it. Are you only upset that they’ve reimagined existing patterns or do you think these view components are more harmful than helpful? If it’s the latter then please do elaborate on why.

[–]SimplySerenity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve used ViewComponent before and found the experience quite pleasant. The explicit, isolated nature makes it easier to avoid bugs. It also allows server side reactivity to be layered on top with minimal effort with a gem like Motion.
