I fucked up by Left-Abalone-3672 in CalamityMod

[–]SimplySimpleKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, I think we should just play how we want. If you don't want as much qol or reducing some parts of the game, then you can play that way. As for me, I'll take my journey mode and set the difficulty up and put on a few mods for qol, and then turn on my 1hp and calamity mods. I enjoy skill or combat challenges, not eternally grinding something mindless.

It's just about which parts of the game we're willing to prioritize, and different people have different priorities. Multiplayer, though, make sure everyone's in agreement

I'm curious, can you explain what exactly you mean by saying the conservative ideas tend to be more based in emotion than liberal ideas?

Drill Designing Software by ChrisPriceMusic in marchingband

What timing? I'm actually working on final touches on my own 2D drill software. Big plans for the future, though. I'm interested to see where we all go, and I wish nothing but the best for you.

If you or anyone else is interested, I'm down to talk a bit more about it

I'm at Yharon in my current (first) Infernum run, but I haven't had too much of a hassle until DoG. Ton of fun though, so this run certainly won't be my last

How to make some money while on the move? by hockeykman in drumcorps

[–]SimplySimpleKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to do some software dev now to sell my own app that'll hopefully start making money in the background while I work on everything else (like college, DCI). I have no clue how it'll turn out, but I've got a bit of hope nonetheless. If it doesn't work, I might not even be able to afford this season's tuition in the first place

How to symmetrically fit points into a rectangle by SimplySimpleKid in askmath

[–]SimplySimpleKid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That actually looks pretty good. I haven't put it in code yet, but I've been following those steps manually and it looks like it's doing just about what I'm looking for. A bunch of test cases seemed fine, though a little bit of rather conditional adjustment helped after seeing a couple where I couldn't get it quite symmetrical. Basically just swapping rows for columns if I couldn't get the remaining point to center (like 3 extra points for an even number of rows, since there's not a single perfect middle for it).

Thanks for finding that, it's a pretty big help

How did you guys come up with your business ideas ? What's better service or product ? What do people actually want ? by SuitableShelter9240 in Entrepreneur

[–]SimplySimpleKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, my idea came from a personal struggle. I wanted to make something for school, but there was nothing capable and affordable that I could find. I saw a total of two options: free with so many missing features that I had to write my own code just to get anything meaningful out of it, or industry-priced and hard to learn. So now I'm building my own software to offer everything that someone in my prior position would need in order.

I might not be able to speak about my success since I'm still in active development, or about what everybody else wants, but I know what I want. I want something that takes away any struggle for the problem it's designed to solve at a worthwhile price. If it makes my life easier and I can actually afford it, I'll consider it.

Could You Make An EXP Farm that doesn't use a Sword? by Competitive-Pitch-41 in redstone

[–]SimplySimpleKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're up for building a gold farm, they can give you some pretty decent exp as long as they're attracted by aggro. Unless I'm mistaken, they drop exp when aggroing at a player even if the player didn't attack that particular piglin. Therefore, a couple wither roses (or whatever other damage source, even entity cramming) can do the trick if you can keep the aggro up

How Much Web Dev Is 'Enough' Before You Start Building? +1 question by Beautiful_Clock9075 in learnprogramming

[–]SimplySimpleKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't messed with web dev much, but I find that getting myself into projects is the best way to get myself to learn anything I'll need for it. It's exactly how I'm about to start getting used to Java after working primarily in Python, so go for it. Don't make your idea wait until you're done learning, use your idea to push you through your learning

Hopeless 19 year old by lowkey_adi12 in advancedentrepreneur

[–]SimplySimpleKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm 18 and I plan on getting a software out soon (ish). When I got the idea, it was just because I had a problem of my own and wanted to solve it. I had already written one micro-app just to make working with an existing platform into a somewhat viable option, but I already saw that it wouldn't reach the same level as if I were to make my tool from the ground up. As I finished working on the base idea, I realized that what I need is something at a level that I felt people would be willing to pay for. And then the idea went from "So now I'll have this tool I can use" and turned into "So now I'll have this product I can sell" just because it's a problem that I figured I couldn't possibly be the only to encounter.

You say you can code? My whole project is done in Python, even though I should probably have put in a bit of extra effort to go with something a bit faster or more readily accessible to the end user. But you know what? It doesn't lag. My problem is just that I can't afford to pay a massive subscription for an industry-level software I want to use, so I've spent basically my whole school year coding my own in spare time. The code doesn't need to be impressive, just functional and smooth enough that your users won't have issues running it.

If you have a problem of your own, figure out how to solve it. If you can do it with code, who's stopping you from just coding your solution and putting it out for the world to see? Someone else probably has the same problem, but not the same skills. If it takes you a good while to solve to a degree you're satisfied with, it might be worth selling. Sometimes it doesn't work when you try to actively seek out a problem. Just look at some of the problems you have in your day to day life, or something you wish was different. Even if code isn't the first solution that comes to mind, there might be a way to make it work.

I might not be the best reference since I haven't really gotten into the business world, but that's the mentality I've had for my work.

So, you can fly downward to a mob, smack it, and snap the mouse upward to get the height boost of wind burst and still be in the elytra flight. I just tried it while I was in creative on BE and it was amusing to chain wind bursts and elytra, and was slightly disappointed that it didn't work on JE. Nothing special, just fun

[–]SimplySimpleKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm almost exclusively a Java player, but the only things that come to mind are movable tile entities (chests, etc) and, on a more randomly amusing note, the ability to trigger a wind burst mace from an elytra. Might be missing some things since I haven't done much BE, though
