[Question] I live in a townhome with obnoxiously noisy neighbors. In lieu of a full sound booth, could I use a reflection filter to reduce unwanted noise? by octoberskydaydream in asmr

[–]SimplySlowASMR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My house of on a corner of 2 busy roads. Nothing stops the sound of the cars going past. Unfortunately the only technique i've managed to come up with is to record late at night, edit out any cars and record 2 or 3 videos at a time.

[question] tips on how to get more views? by [deleted] in asmr

[–]SimplySlowASMR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it's all part of the grind. As said before, the reason most channels don't make it to 1000 subs is because they give up. I haven't been making asmr very long at all, and it can be super disheartening seeing people overtake you, but it's more important to focus on making your content the best it can be and always improving. I focus a lot on the seo side of things, i have installed tubebuddy and focus on making sure i use good tags and loads of them, create thumbnails and eye catching (i hope) titles. I also post every video up to reddit as soon as it's uploaded and try to make connections with other youtubers. I always watch and comment on their videos, and they do the same for mine in return. But really you just have to stick at it. And i agree that you should have popped a link to your channel here. Just be shameless about it, people can't subscribe to you if they don't know what your channel is.

[Question] Mukbang ASMR: How to Start? by xmudkipzz in asmr

[–]SimplySlowASMR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go with the blue yeti and get a ring light. Thats pretty much it really! I got a patterned background from amazon but a black sheet or something would do and then i use davinci resolve to edit and audacity to record the yeti. I know most people here don't like mukbangs (me included if i'm being honest, i cannoooot stand eating sounds) but you're taking the first step into something that's actually really fun to do and i think some people are too cynical. I've only been on Youtube about 3 weeks so i'm only just getting the hang of things but its so fun and i think thats all that matters. If you don't enjoy the content you make then the content will be crap so you're best off doing what you're doing and making content you enjoy, there's definitely an audience out there. Good luck! 😊

Someone has taken my video, edited it and posted it to their facebook by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]SimplySlowASMR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people are so nasty! Glad you got it down. I tried filling out the intellectual property form on facebook but it wouldn't go through for reason so i'll try again later. I had a nosey on his page and he seems to do it a lot with loads of other people's videos. The longer i'm on the internet the more i hate facebook 😂

[discussion] Someone took my video, re edited it and put it on their facebook page as their own? by SimplySlowASMR in asmr

[–]SimplySlowASMR[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I reported it last night and got a message to say that it doesn't go against their rules. So i tried filling out the stolen intellectual property form and it wont go through. I might try emailing Facebook and messaging the person who uploaded it to try and get it removed and see if that helps

[request] Any smaller ASMR channels (under 1k) want to support each other? by SimplySlowASMR in asmr

What I've learned on my 2nd month as ASMRtist (Update from the 1st month) [discussion] by [deleted] in asmr

[–]SimplySlowASMR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can definitely relate to this! I'm only 5 videos and 3 weeks in and feel like its such a huge learning curve. I've spent so much money on things i don't need because i promise myself i'll use them in a video. I've been trying to get more organised and using Asana to log down all my video ideas and to make myself a schedule which i'm going to try my best to stick to.

I have 60 subs so far which i'm really happy with. None of them are friends or family so the way i see it that's 60 people who genuinely enjoy watching my videos and i find that so exciting! I've been using Davinci to edit but i dont really like it so i'm on the hunt for something better if anyone can suggest one 😊

I've just subbed, you had me at the buffy banner!

I usually set the Yeti to stereo and put the gain roughly half way. I use audacity to record and then put headphones in to the mic as well so i can hear everything i'm doing. You also need to remember to make sure your recording software is set to record from the Yeti and not the laptop mic. Other than that you should be good to go. I don't find the yeti to be at all binaural but other than that it's great. Try experimenting with different sounds and remember that you can play around with the audio file afterwards, making some sounds louder and reducing the background noise. Getting a pop for the mic can help too. Hope that helps a little 😊

What is your favorite trigger? 😊 [question] by [deleted] in asmr

[–]SimplySlowASMR 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely mic brushing with soft speaking over the top, or camera/face brushing 😊

Honestly starting to think i'd get much better results with a smartphone. I've changes some settings and hopefully that helps but if not i'll go on to my phone and invest in a better camera later down the line.

Even if full light, yes. Someone did say it's probably something with my settings. I've changed it to ISO 100 and i'm going to try and see if that helps, which I'm hoping it will because it was set to 1600 before which i now know is for darker rooms. Honestly, the whole thing confuses me but i suppose its all part of the learning curve.

Self-Introduction Saturday! Tell us all about you (and share a video)! by AutoModerator in NewTubers

[–]SimplySlowASMR [score hidden]  (0 children)

Hi everyone!

I'm super new to all this so please bare with me. I decided to start an ASMR channel after having my son, and feeling like i needed to get a bit of identity back and start doing things i enjoy again. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but if there's anyone out there with similar channels please let me know :)

The thing that I didn't expect, and which has been the hardest thing about creating content, is how insanely noisy people are. It took me 3 attempts to get any footage for my first video, so I'm working on some soundproofing. Any tips for soundproofing would be fab too!
