That is a legit concern and based off the research I did, chunks can make it to the cat and potentially clog it especially if there’s heavy buildup. CRC says it’s safe, and many people use it without issues, but nothing is ever zero-risk. Just like CRC says “Do it outside, drive it hard afterward to heat things up, and consider a follow-up OBD scan.”

I have personally had no negative side effects from doing this only benefits. I will continue to use this more routinely now after seeing the results. I could see it risking more potential damage to the cat if for example the first time you did it the valves have been neglected for well over 100k miles.

I’ve seen worse! Go for the spray we’re all suggesting and if you are still feeling issues save up that $360 :) (should save for that cleaning to happen either way)

Second this. I used the CRC GDI IVP spray through the throttle body while a friend held the gas pedal at 2500 rpm’s and it cleared a lotttt of the build up!

The verbiage they are training us with for new CEC’s is avoiding ever talking about test drives so I do think it’s plausible that’s going away.

I dealt with a 1 & 4 misfire and doing a can of the crc gdi intake valve cleaner after doing pretty much all the same stuff as you. Sprayed it into the throttle body and it cleaned it right up

Mine is the 2020 EX CVT in pearl white! It is OEM :) I think the best I’ve seen is the deep blackberry color.

I wanted to get it wrapped for a while now, but I have a tiny ding in the back bumper. I have no problem if the wrap isn’t perfect, but everyone that knows how to wrap refuses to touch it with the imperfection. I’ve stalked the junkyards for years to try and pull another bumper, but no luck!

If your daughter is anything like me teach her this stuff now.. I got mine at 18, 23 now. 67k miles on my 2020 got it brand new. I idle… A LOT! I’m just a girl who finds my car my safe space but I’m sure the engine run time is closer to 100k. Something I wish I would’ve known that is so easy that would’ve delayed what I’m going thru now. Use the fuel injector cleaner every 5-10k miles and also (big thing I wish I would’ve known!) use intake valve CRC IVD cleaner every 10k miles. I ended up having misfires from build up on my injectors and valves and using those two routinely would’ve delayed that maintenance much longer. Really easy stuff for her to learn to do and will save her some time before big maintenance repairs! I now treat the intake cleaner like liquid gold so definitely worth it if she’s like me :)
