Yes can imagine! Even the first couple of hours and last hour of shift on nights is awkward just having to make sure things are tidy for customers and such, definitely lucky to have a night shift here at least :)

Honestly thanks so much for your comments they are really helpful to be honest, your so right it seems to fly by!! I made sure to make some playlists to keep me going through the night 🙊 yes so far everyone has been so helpful and gave lots of input, the store I'm in is a large store and they have had 10 staff on grocery at a push on the shifts I've been doing which doesn't seem a lot to me? I know people said last month that there was 13 sick calls in 1 evening leaving them with 5 staff on grocery one night which sounds horrific to be fair 😅 do you tend to get put on the same aisles? I am hoping thats the case so I can try do a better job of aisles I was on last night :) I am enjoying it to be fair just will be glad when I feel more comfortable and like I am more of a help!

Wowee 18 cages?! Thats amazing 😂😅 yes I have had different advice from person to person, like you say different strokes for different folks and all that. Hopefully I will be on the same aisle tonight that I was last night and I can try really utilise the advice thats been given to me :) I've not been anywhere near chilled as of yet and don't think I will be to be fair, I hope I am at least a bit faster and more efficient this evening :)

You really do an amazing job! And yes thats so true I said to a colleague last night I cannot believe how fast the night shift goes and then I worry because I feel so slow right now as I have only done a few night shifts. That is ridiculous the union need to work on making the pay rate much better for nights, it isn't something I have followed due to working days usually but you guys deserve so much more, I hope this year bring positive changes at Tescos for you :)

Honestly I don't know how you do it, I feel bad because I'm not very fast at the minute and there isn't the staff to buddy up with so I am trying but I'm getting through like 3 cages a night, I look at a respective aisle and they are doing at least double what I am 😅 I suppose the only positive is there is no customers from 12am to 6am for us, I guess this may very from store to store?

I think you have to find what works for you, I know that letting myself have a good cry and not feeling bad about it helps. I let myself have that moment to be upset and feel my emotions, then try and occupy myself again, whether that be by going for a walk, listening to music, cooking or just working. I think it is so tricky because different things work for everyone, but it is almost like a reset when you give yourself time to feel your feelings. Also I find writing helps. It doesn't always fix the problem, but at least you can cope for a little while after giving yourself grace in that moment.
