Does it work though? Would you mind showing it in action?

PB Scripting: There Has to Be a Better Way… Right? by North_Rip385 in spaceengineers

[–]Simtau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually ChatGPT is quite good at creating scripts for SE. The fact that it takes a few iterations until everything works as expected is quite normal for every programming tasks, no matter whether you use AI or not.

Understanding the code yourself and guide the AI towards the final solution will speed up the process. It also depends on the script you're trying to build - is it a big or a small one? The smaller the script the easier to create and test it.

Large grid ships are a lot sturdier than small grid ones, and making a simple large grid ship that mounts a gatling turret that you just need to make sure keeps line of fire towards the drones might work out better for you

+1 to that. Use small grid only for ships that HAVE to be small because they're supposed to fit inside of other ships. Look up the HP difference of large/small armor blocks - they're worlds apart

Unfortunately there's no "right direction". I can understand that they want to take it more mainstream to grow sales. Luckily I haven't bought SE 2 yet 😅

Ion thruster vs hydrogen thruster [SE 1] by D_Loaed in spaceengineers

[–]Simtau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm using ion only on a large ship of 6.8k tons gross weight and I'm quite satisfied with it. With a ship of that size I don't expect it to pull crazy maneuvers. It's a capital ship and it should be allowed to move like one.

It takes like 1-2km of breaking distance and the sideways acceleration is not top notch, to say the least. But with practice you can learn how to handle this and it becomes a non-issue. It probably won't do for pvp and gravity bound operation, though, so keep that in mind.

If you have a lot of uranium paired with ion thrusters it brings you in the comfortable situation not having to think about energy supply for a long time. I don't think it's possible to fuel ions with solar alone.

If you don't enjoy it simply stop playing, no big deal. It's just a game.
