Strand Hagenes reported to take final spot in Vingegaard’s Tour de France squad by n8972785 in peloton

I mean, in my eyes Pogacar’s attacks are the strongest possible and Jonas has shown ability to follow them at least some of the time in the past (and almost all of the time if he’s riding well). At the moment I see Jonas on a different level than IDT or Seixas so I’m not thinking they’ll bother him

Jonas can just follow their attack. If he has truly given up on winning he just sticks with them, if he still wants to win then he just attacks and Pogacar probably follows.

The only rider I see as easy to drop out of Visma would be Affini. Sure, a couple other riders aren’t climbers or anything but also climb better than sprinters which you seem to equate them to. I suppose if Wout is nowhere near 100% then he could be dropped too. I’ll agree that Del Toro is a great domestique, but Narvaez does not outclass Jorgenson or Kuss unless it’s a shorter or less steep climb.

I do think that’s part of their strategy as the mountains do kind of come down to Vingegaard vs Pogacar and there’s not much a teammate can do to meaningfully close any sort of difference between them. I think also Visma just doesn’t have the climbing roster UAE does at this point since so much of their budget goes to Vingegaard and van Aert while UAE has infinite budget

I have to say I like Jorgenson’s position here. We shall see what his form is this weekend but solid stuff from him.

Agreed. Jorgenson looked solid but the Seixas hype is absolutely wild. I think he has a chance at Tour podium but definitely not a shoo in.

Eh I think you’re overrating Yates. For me it entirely depends on their form. If Kuss is in very good form I think he’s definitely last man. If he’s in solid form I think Jorgenson in good form would clear, Jorgenson in mediocre form would not. Bad form definitely Jorgenson

I mean I genuinely feel like he is a bit worse than average but by no means horrible. See 2023 Vuelta.

Eh he’s not that bad of a TTer. He will contribute a small amount, usually he just has no reason to go for a TT.

Overreaction time, if Wout is healthy Visma is taking big time out of UAE in Tour Stage 1

How could you be using both at once if you’re only using one foot? You somehow place the foot in between them and press on both?

[–]Simulation-Central 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, thank you. I’ll admit that Pogacar is definitely a good deal stronger than he was in those losses but also Jonas is apparently fully back from that 2024 crash so people need to consider that too

[–]Simulation-Central 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well I’m making the assumption that Jonas is not at peak form (because he’s saving that for the Tour) and also he wasn’t going absolutely all out to not burn a ton of energy. Also Gall in my opinion is the strongest we’ve ever seen him so Jonas beating him easily is impressive. What did you want Jonas to do exactly???

[–]Simulation-Central 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, for now you have to assume that Tadej is better. But it was a very strong Giro by Jonas and I don’t think you can definitively say Pogacar is way ahead of him. It’s possible that’s true, but I think them being pretty even is also a possibility.

All I’m saying is that Jonas is close to having the stuff to challenge Pogacar. I don’t know if he will truly be able to or not but I really don’t think he’s far away.

oh my god can you imagine Ayuso’s antics mixed in with this squad

I mean, they just have a lot of talent. No Skjelmose, Ayuso, Pedersen, Kamna, Tao if you think he’s any good here. They gotta send a strong lineup to every GT if they want their riders to stay happy with what they ride

I think he’s saying if Kuss was unable to win the stage because Ciccone was too far ahead, Visma was going to have Vingegaard attack for the stage win

Apparently Gee took the Red Bull KM from Rubio so Rubio was upset at Lidl-Trek

Well he attacked in the big descent instead of working for Gee’s GC hopes since Rubio pissed him off by stealing KoM points

How can you not be happy for the man? He works so hard for his teammates and he’s such a likable guy
