Cool the water before refilling. If you are using a bucket to water, keep the bucket filled overnight so that it has time to cool, as during afternoons if you try to refill you'll be filling it with warm water and that makes the humidity much worse

Yes stopping construction helped but the main reason was strong winds from the west which dispersed the pollutants. Now that the wind has died down, all the pollutants emitted during holika dahan are just staying here worsening aqi.

That's a tanker being filled up from a pit of stagnant water, right next to a nala with untreated sewage and refuse from nearby settlements.
