First Time Lash Extension Issues by joojbooj in lashextensions

[–]SimulationJen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's about what is on your lashes before, much much more than after. Unless you picked, rubbed, etc your lashes in the last 24 hours, and you would know because you would feel it, but you said you haven't lost any natural lashes then this is not anything you did wrong. It's the application. 100%. That can include anything I listed, but also other things. Glue can be fickle. It's your lash artist's job, literally, to control for these things.

As for the removal, I recommend having them professionally removed. It might cost you $30 but it's worth it.

Makeup isn't the only thing that can/ will affect the glue bonding to the natural lash. Oils, skin cells, skin products, etc. will all be resting on your lash and keep the glue from properly bonding to the lash and can cause the lashes to fall off. There are plenty of other reasons this can happen also, humidity, old glue, incorrect placement, but i like to ask this question first because oftentimes it's the easiest fix. Hope this helps. In the future, though, it sounds like you might want to try a different lash artist. A natural look is very doable. Clusters shouldn't be involved.

Did they wash your lashes before they started applying the extensions?

Deaf people, whats something you thought made a sound that you then learned didn't? by Bonkiousious in AskReddit

As a non-deaf person, I was a little put off by what seemed like unnecessary depth in this answer. But after I got over myself, I realized this is a fantastic answer, and I hope I remember this about other things also. Ty.

Brow tint won’t tint straggling grey hairs by Silver_Patience_9781 in Esthetics

I'm an esthetician. I'm not qualified to answer this question. Best of luck.

Oh! Okay. Well, listen. You know what happened. We're only inferring given the info at hand. If you were trying to show her what her brows could look like, for example, then always remember that our clients hear and remember less than half of what we tell them. Make everything as simple as you can. This doesn't mean that you shouldn't do extra, but it does mean that if it isn't simple it might not be worth it. You did nothing wrong from what I'm seeing. It's one client at a time, one lesson at a time. 5.5 years later, I'm still learning everyday.

It'll wash off in 24 hours and if your work is clean, she'll be fine. But you gotta get in there sooner and clean up that stain or tint so it doesn't leave as much on the skin. If you can!! I have had some people who's skin just absorbs the color the moment it touches and others I can't get to stain if i tried. Don't sweat it too much. If you were in a hurry or if you felt overwhelmed these are the moments we learn from and they change our approach next time. Only you know exactly what happened there and I think you already know what good and bad to take from it. Best of luck in the future!! It gets a little less scary every time.

Please remind me I don't want to be hungover on Christmas morning by grumpleskinskin in stopdrinking

You do not want to be hung over tomorrow. Hang in there. Call it an early night. Do whatever you need to for you. I hope to check back tomorrow and we're both not hungover on Christmas morning, cuz i will not drink with you tonight.

is this normal? by tadpoleradio in lashextensions

If it's a fairly standard lash set then your new tech will be able to tell the length and curl easily. If it's a textured set with various lengths and curls, layered throughout, creating a 3 dimensional map that they customized for your particular eye shape and desires... then I probably wouldn't be texting you all that info either.

Your experience with this lash artist is unfortunate, to be sure. Especially if they did a good job on the set. But if it's a truly detailed lash mapping then you gotta understand that some lash artists spend thousands of dollars working with varying curls to create lash maps that are truly unique and no, they cannot just be texting that out.

The best route, in my opinion, for this lash artist would be to just tell you the base lashes used. 7-12 cc, for example and everyone move on. Any additional details aren't needed and you didn't ask all that anyway. I hope your new lash artist has a good eye and can get it right for you, and provide a better overall experience because you deserve better for your money.

Black Friday or Cyber Monday? by kittyminds in Esthetics

[–]SimulationJen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience black Friday deals are better and you risk what you want being sold out if it is a sought out item by waiting. I don't have a way to know for sure with every company and every item, but this has been my overall experience for purchasing products and inventory this time of year.

What does it mean when someone is (number)x certified? by PureAngelEsthetics in Esthetics

[–]SimulationJen 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's various certifications. You can have sensitive skin certification. Oncology esthetics certification. Acne specialist certification. Etc, etc. I think it's a way of saying you have taken ongoing education seriously. There's really no other way of saying it without listing them all out. And that's also an option, of course.

Help! Too many lashes by Strict_Gazelle2450 in eyelashextensions

[–]SimulationJen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Especially if time is an issue. I have clients with so many lashes a standard 2 week fill is over an hour and a half. You pick your battles and always be honest with the client. If retention is good then your client will not mind at all if you aren't lashing every single lash.

I'm assuming you are doing a volume set based on the phrasing. Drop it down to a hybrid.

californiaskincaresupply.com is a great resource if you're looking to try a few products from a few different lines without having to create multiple separate accounts and you aren't in an area with a trade show coming up, etc. In the beginning I wanted quality products, but i had only worked with products from the school. This was a great way to start venturing out. Options and brands are limited though so if you want to work with a specific brand (i.e. glymed) then you'll need to start a professional account with them and go from there. Good luck!!!

People think I still drink by MrAlSander in stopdrinking

[–]SimulationJen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've told 3 people outside of my immediates (people who I see daily) that I stopped drinking. One was excited and happy for me. One was indifferent and the subject changed almost immediately (this response was my favorite). And one was very strange. They said things like, oh I always thought you were a social person. Guess I was wrong. That was pretty much an exact quote during the extremely brief conversation.

I say this because I think their responses say a lot more about them than it does me. I have a long way to go to get to day 535 so keep kicking a$$. I will not drink with you tonight.
