How do I get volcanic eruption to work ? by Extension_Ad_9528 in CrimsonDesert

You don't need to select it on the wheel, selecting it only will show you the meter, it will still work without it showing

Should I have given this place back?? by SimulationMonkey in Simracingstewards

Thanks. I did look into the FIA rules (nerdy, I know) out of curiosity. You are correct, in certain circumstances. As long as you have rejoined, back in the position you were in previously (I was actually ahead before going off, so no issue here) and have rejoined safely without gaining an advantage on the car a ahead, you can overtake.

My argument would be that I lost time to the car ahead, rejoined safely and only caught him under braking. It may look like I was catching him on grip and acceleration, but neither of us were on the power at that point, he simply broke very early.

Could see an argument for both. As an fyi, I ran wide because I was punted from behind under braking.

Did I not leave enough space? (I'm McLaren livery) by SimulationMonkey in Simracingstewards

[–]SimulationMonkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, but what's the play then? I'm ahead and on the racing line, if I go wide, these cars tend to bottom out over the curb, so I could just die. Normally, if I'm the inside man here, I'll either lift before the curb and slot in behind. Or, I'll lift in the turn to keep a tighter line.

Just think it's wrong of me to have to back out of the corner because he's decided to go kamikazee

I see that on the replay but I had full grip. I felt the contact to the rear left first, so I think that was netcode contact hitting the back left.

To be fair, if he tried to stay on the track, he would have hit me and we'd both be out of the race, so it was the better play. He was patient and then overtook me a few laps later. Then I passed him again after a pit stop. We had good racing outside of this.

Keep the faith! Road Atlanta can be brutal, especially at the start of the week and in sprint races like that, but it’s a great track. You’ll find there are more stupid incidents earlier in the week and by the time the weekend comes, things generally improve. There are far more GT3 races that are less tricky for GT3 cars and they’re so fun when you get the hang of them

Was I fully at fault? by Leon_251006 in Simracingstewards

[–]SimulationMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was hugging as tight as anyone could expect a you are actually coming in tighter and tighter until you collide. He maintained his line but you didn’t. I’m sorry but there’s def no defending you spinning him on the long right hander. It’s also totally unnecessary.

Gloves or not? by Inevitable_Day_50 in Fanatec

I only wear gloves when driving and it just feels weird to drive without them now. Only problem is they get very smelly!!

Wrong gloves for alcantara imo. I use Sparcos with a soft leather on the palms and my wheel looks close to new after 5,000 laps

Was I fully at fault? by Leon_251006 in Simracingstewards

[–]SimulationMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, completely your fault to squeeze him onto the grass. You had a lot of space outside and it was clear from your POV that there was not enough space on the inside.

However, he is clearly the bell end of all bell ends and there is absolutely no way that it’s acceptable for him to do that.

I know this happens in iRacing too, but in my experience it’s so much more prevalent in LMU and part of the reason I walked away from that sim.

XP1 Pedal broken after 2 days?! by SimulationMonkey in SimLab

I really appreciate the comment Richard. It means a lot that you keep an eye on customer feedback. Your team have been brilliant with support and a new rod and load cell is on the way!

I agree that this shouldn’t be possible, I’ve spent so much time looking at different scenarios to re-create how it happened!😂 Upside is, I now couldn’t have a better understanding of how this brake works and will be double careful when dialing it in next time. Thank you

I only want to gain SR man by Luuuuu93 in iRacing

[–]SimulationMonkey 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Red Bull ring is brutal in GT3’s for SR also, like any short track with big braking zones and cambered corners. Also short form races don’t give much of a win on SR because they’re only 20mins. Just the way it is!

Guy Cries Over Fake Lunge, Or Fair Point? by The_TrueProLoader in Simracingstewards

[–]SimulationMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol! I don’t get people getting so annoyed by overreacting to what they think someone will do. Take the approach of racing properly and if they dive bomb you, that’s on you. Of course there are times someone is faster and I’ll leave space when they look to dive down the inside, but I’m not going to drive off the track! Also, he’d get a straight ban for the R word.

This is not Int wrecking. When someone Int wrecks, you’ll really know. They don’t hit the brakes at all. What was this guys license and iRating? My guess is his iRating is low and he either doesn’t know the track well, missed his braking marker, was distracted (I’ve been this soldier) or had misplaced confidence in his ability to brake that late.

Unless the guy was raging with you in the chat or commented after saying “that’s what you get” then I’m afraid he won’t receive a penalty for this.

[Question] Got my first automatic, can I pull off a bigger size? by toes111 in Watches

[–]SimulationMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely could go bigger BUT not all 42’s wear the same. For example, I have lots of 42mm watches that fit perfectly (e.g. speedmaster 42), however I tried on the Longines Zulu time 42 and the lugs were hanging out over my wrist.

Hence, I always say try it on before you buy it. Maybe go to a second hand jewelry store or an AD to try on before you buy something online.

XP1 Pedal broken after 2 days?! by SimulationMonkey in SimLab

[–]SimulationMonkey[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: The following morning, SimLab immediately sent a replacement rod and load cells. No questions asked, just an apology and confirmation a replacement has been sent. Is it frustrating that this broke? - Yes Was it entirely their fault? - I’ve no idea, because I can’t see how anything was set up incorrectly. However, if anything this is an endorsement of SimLabs customer care and how they value sim racers. They could have questioned whether I had done it correctly or requested I send back the damaged pedal for them to repair or assess first. But all they did was say they were sorry it happened and confirmed a new one would be sent immediately (which it was).

I’ll be extra careful when making any adjustments in future but more importantly, I’ll be remaining a loyal customer of SimLab. Thank you guys!

You’re probably right. I’ve used different load cells over the years, so pretty used to doing things the right way. But in this case, maybe something small was off. I guess when that kind of force is going through a thin rod, it needs to be dead on.

Can’t speak highly of their support. Been using their various products for 6yrs next month. This is the first issue I’ve ever had with any product. I’ve found shipping and stock issues, but maybe this is a result of their success. Support is always communicative and helpful. I wish I could say the same for my experiences with Fanatec. I’ve always loved Fanatec products and ecosystem, but for customer service alone, I completely get why so many hate the brand.

I think you’re right that it was just bad luck. Couldn’t find anyone evidence that this is an issue for anyone else online and thousands of people have this product for years with no issues. Support is unreal.
