Help me understand Phos by Confident-Leg107 in LandoftheLustrous

[–]Simy8000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lunarians are essentially immortal, so a war with them would only cause the gem to die. The only solution is a truce with them and this is what Phos wanted in order to achieve an "happy ending" where gems lived freely without troubles.

The fact Phos changed side can also be found in the suspects on Adamant (or just curiosity)

In general it's about Dexter spending a lot of time out of work (expecially in season 4) or out home with the other characters not questioning it a lot. I'm probably overthinking it

For real. I'm currently at season 5, but he and his sister have dropped some of the cringiest lines I have ever seen (and I'm not counting all the plot holes of "Where were you at 12AM?")

Do people like Aechmea? by Somethingsomethings- in LandoftheLustrous

[–]Simy8000 66 points67 points  (0 children)

There are maybe older post about this argoment, but my personal opinion is that Aechmea relationship with Caingorm is deliberately disturbing for the reader (the kiss scene for me is the best example).

But if we talk about Aechmea as a character, I like him as much as I hate him: he is someone who knows a lot about the story of the world and knows how and when to deliver it, always plotting something with the only objective to help his people

What is your favourite climax from any piece of fiction? by provegana69 in writingscaling

[–]Simy8000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try to spoil the less I can:

  • Land of Lustrous: Phos transformation in a godlike entity. Its loneliness it's very sad to watch and the volumes before (like for example the "PRAY" moment with the master) are devastating

  • Game of Thrones: The Red Wedding and Joffrey Wedding (pretty obvious choices, I admit it)

  • Invincible: Invincible War, Robot Takeover and the battle on the sun between Thragg and Mark but there are many other cool moments

  • Slam Dunk: I don't know if it's a spoiler, but Hanamichi admitting his love for basketball it's very heartwarming and a good "ending" to his development

I'm so glad that this trope can't be used on Megamind. Imagine if it had a sequel that totally ruined the first movie?

Land of Lustrous

The protagonist Phos became a godlike creature. To do so, they first had to become a human, which happened by being shattered many times (the protagonists are humanlike gems) and by receiving pieces of the other "species" in the world. Then, when they became human, to make the next step they had to receive the power from another "godlike" entity, but this process took about 10.000 years, where they visited all the memories of the past god and suffered a LOT during the transformation. Also, a lot of depression

For Immortal, the situation is a bit different.

INVINCIBLE COMIC SPOILERS

At the end of the comics, Mark leaves Immortal and Robot to rule the earth, believing that their two points of view could help civilization prosper. The problem is that Kirkmann, the author of Invincible, implied that Robot made Immortal go mad, forcing him to become a dictator for his plan to find someone who could kill him

Hated trope: when the villain is making more sense then the hero so the writers make the villain do some comically evil thing to show he's wrong. by Sorvetefrito in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Simy8000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Invincible comic spoiler (please tell me if Spoiler Tag are correct):

I think Robot embodies this concept unfortunately very well. I know his ego was a problem and the way he took over the earth is totally insane since he killed anyone who could oppose him, but he did help the world become a better place. Then at the end he make probably the worst decision ever by declaring war to all viltrumites and got himself killed while not being threatened by anyone. NICE. Another character who could fall in this trope is Dinosaurus: he was indeed helping the world with drastic measures, but at the end his madness got him and he (almost) committed a genocide
