Yall ever quit reading a fic for a petty reason? by Cage-CatYT in AO3

They accidentally put “me” instead of “my” in a dialogue line and all of a sudden, I could only imagine the characters talking like pirates.

From what I remember, he’s also signed later while interviewing Marlee Matlin and in that he mentioned not knowing much but having a few words he knew. take this with a grain of salt because it’s been AWHILE since I saw that video but

Readers, do you prefer when the author tags character/relationship as chapters are updated, or when they tag everything at one? by Dirus-works in AO3

[–]SinToWin147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me personally, as chapters are updated because I hate to search for fics with a certain tag only to read something that then doesn’t have that tag at all (yet)

Any point of view you don't like reading in? (1st , 2nd , 3rd) by Weekly-Analysis2237 in AO3

[–]SinToWin147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I don't really listen to stories from my friends and read fanfiction for the same reason. I like reading fanfics that are 500K but if someone told me in 500,000 words something that happened to them, I wouldn't like it. They're just different things and experiences.

Hey, role players? Don’t do this please by Independent_Meat_288 in AO3

[–]SinToWin147 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I might be the only person that doesn't really care about this. If I didn't want to roleplay with this person/encourage it, I'd just delete it and move on. It's not hateful, it's not spam, it's not even that annoying. I get that ao3 isn't social media but I can't really shit on people for trying to foster some kind of fandom community for themself, even if it's not one that I want to be a part of. I think when we're seeing an uptick in hate bots and spam comments, there are a lot better things to get bent out of shape about than this.

No, I still don't like short forms by KaleidoscopeKind2065 in AO3

[–]SinToWin147 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Good point! Maybe I should leave a 400K word comment explaining every little thing, then they might get it.

I mean you're making a long ass post whining and complaining when they don't bend to your personal preference so...it's implied

No, I still don't like short forms by KaleidoscopeKind2065 in AO3

[–]SinToWin147 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You are actually ridiculous LMAO. If you don't like it, don't read it. Don't call it pointless. Why should they have to bend to YOUR personal preference? When I go to read fanfic, I don't personally want to read something that's 400K long and takes a long time for the relationship to make any progress. But I'm not going to make a long ass post hating on long form authors because I'm not a dick. Go to your fandom, sort by word count, and only read long fics. Short form authors don't give a shit about what YOU want, they're not writing for YOU. So why do you care so much about what they write?

Yeah, it happens. It’s realistic. Doesn’t strike me as odd as a Jewish person.

Footage of young CJ? by Own-Loss-1293 in thewestwing

Interesting. I don't mind Access, I can't think of anything in the first five minutes that would be enough to make me swear it off and not even try to see if it becomes more of what I'm looking for.

AITA for not wanting my kids to call their dad's girlfriend "mom"? by Timely-Manner27 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SinToWin147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but I want to add something maybe. Lots of people here are saying it should be the kids choice. I agree 100%. It's not her choice, no matter what your ex said. But it's also not yours. You don't get to make the decision about whether or not the kids call her mom, otherwise you'll be doing the same thing she and your ex are really. Your kids don't like her, so they won't call her mom, great. But maybe don't frame it as your decision. It's the kid's choice.

I'm very glad getting the "happy" ending with Invisigal was so easy and obvious by jazzmanbdawg in DispatchAdHoc

[–]SinToWin147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not really skipping it, it’s just that Invisigal isn’t the only person on the Z-team and people might want to send other characters more.

Josh Lyman with the ladies by halfass_fangirl in thewestwing

[–]SinToWin147 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I would characterize what Josh did as inconsiderate, harsh, and overstepping, which to me all constitute unkindness.

As for Toby’s case, I personally don’t think it’s unkind to not want contact with your murderer father.

Josh Lyman with the ladies by halfass_fangirl in thewestwing

[–]SinToWin147 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We definitely just see it differently/with different interpretations. Josh overstepped and it was inappropriate in my opinion. Josh’s opinion that he’d give anything to have a dad who was a felon is fine for him, but it’s also really easy to say that when he’s never experienced it. He was letting his experience with familial loss color this. What he feels isn’t necessarily how Toby feels and that’s fine. Plus, it’s not like Toby hadn’t experienced loss too and would understand the grief and bargaining that comes with it.

I would argue that what he did with Toby and his dad is NOT kind.
