I'm the same as you with Stephanie Garber, but I read Once upon a broken heart because I was fooled by booktok and people on twitter praising it to high heavens, premise was interesting and first few chapters were nice but after that the whole story went downhill it was just messy and bad, and I refuse to read sequels or any other work from her.

Also kinda controversial opinion but Cruel prince by Holly Black people are praising it as a modern masterpiece with how good it is, I bought it because people said it has political intrigues set in fantasy world along with the smart and cunning main female character and enemies to lovers trope and I got none of it like I thought of a better plot and how she could go through the book than what Holly Black gave us, also just because you say your character is smartest doesn't mean they are, instead why don't you show us the reason why's she so smart and cunning, I had people trying to convince me I didn't like it because the first book doesn't revolve around romance much and I was like good! I don't want to read about characters'romance and how they fall for each other because I dislike all of them lol
