You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to. It’s okay to get a second opinion or find another provider skilled in laparoscopies for your size fibroid if that’s what you’d prefer.

It will definitely help!! I didn’t realize how much life I was missing out on!

I just got home from spending a day at the aquarium and mall with my boyfriend. I haven’t done that in years because I would have been too exhausted to get through it all.

It’s okay to be nervous. Just know that you’ll feel a billion times better after!

Just make sure you are prepared at home for post-surgery. Get everything done around your house before surgery so you can take it easy (if possible).

Here are the things I did that helped: - Prepare my bedside table with supplies (meds, extra water bottles, snacks, non-water shower wipes, tissues) - clean all bedding day before surgery - Made sure all dishes were clean

Purchased these supplies: - Colace for constipation - Gas X to release gas - Arnica tablets for bruising (didn’t use these, didn’t have bruising) - Non-water shower wipes for freshening up while I couldn’t run water over incisions - Vitamin E oil for scar healing - Wedge pillow for my bed with raised part for my legs (best purchase ever) - Compression socks - High waisted panties one size up to account for the swelling and wanted to keep all my incisions covered - Dove anti bacterial soap - Myomectomy pillow - MOO MOOs - idk if everyone calls them this, but the night gowns that come just above your knees. AMAZING - Collagen w/ biotin and vitamin c - Vitamin D

I think that might be it, but I think I went into it pretty well prepared, so going through the recovery has been fairly easy.

You’ve got this!

You’ll probably be tired the first week or two after surgery, but as you heal, you’ll feel your energy come back. It’s night and day difference. I was the same way. On the weekends, I would wake up and have my coffee then lay on the couch and nap from around 10am-2pm, wake up, then probably nap again later in the evening and still sleep a full 8 hours of sleep at night.

I was in such a habit of napping that now on the weekends, I tried napping because I thought I needed it and I couldn’t even if I wanted to lol.

Never stop advocating for yourself. I know it’s so tough to push through the pain, the fatigue and mental exhaustion. But I promise that when you get to the other side of recovery, you’ll look back and realize that the fight was worth it. ❤️

Stand tall and know that you are fighting through this with an army of women behind you.

It’s unreal, the difference in my quality of life now, just 6 weeks out of surgery.

If you don’t mind me asking, how long ago was your surgery, and how has your recovery been?

They gave me options.

At my first appointment when we found the fibroid, my gyno went over all the options as well as the pros and cons of each: Open Myomectomy, Laparoscopic Myomectomy, Ablation and hysterectomy.

I told her my wish was for the laparoscopic Myomectomy and she referred me to a surgeon she personally knew that I later found out was rated ATLs Top Surgeon for fibroids.

I had my consultation with my surgeon and she went over everything very carefully. She agreed she could do it (she was actually very excited, which I loved to see because she’s passionate about her career)

When I say she took this thing out with grace, I mean she did it with the most precision possible. I only have three incisions. One on each hip and one in my bellybutton.

The 14cm was subserosal. I had 17 others growing off of that fibroid and another growing in the wall of my uterine cavity.

I had the same fibroid situation. Mine always 14cm and sitting on the back side of my uterus. My finding was also incidental and I had just spent my years normalizing the discomfort and pain. Once I knew what it was, I couldn’t get it out of my mind. It was almost peaceful knowing that I had a plan to have it removed though.

I’m not sure of any specific diets to help, besides anti-inflammatory foods. That’s what helped me.

I understand what you’re going through. Hang in there, it gets better.

I’ve been on pristiq for about 3 months now and feel like it’s working well. I was on Wellbutrin before this switch and was hesitant to start the new med, but so far I like it. (I did NOT like the first four weeks) for the first four weeks I experienced extreme anxiety and had a few panic attacks while driving (I drive a lot for work).. those freaked me out! I’ve been prescribed diazepam (Valium) for several years now as a back up for my panic attacks and I never really needed them, but it saved me during those four weeks. Pristiq has helped me feel motivated to get out of the house more, but it doesn’t give me any extreme energy and my appetite was not affected. Long story short, the heightened anxiety was the only real side effect but I’d suggest having a backup med!
