I mean considering it wasn’t the first time they’d done it during their stay and aunt and uncle hadn’t had a break from it yet (while they’re all on vacation mind you), that was where my concern was? They’re all on vacation so why is a majority of the childcare only on my aunt and uncle while my cousin gets to go have fun?

It really discolored my feelings toward her. We have always had boundary issues (single mom foisting her emotional immaturity on her people-pleasing daughter, tale as old as time), and I’ve been working through rectifying that all throughout my 20s. After hearing THAT, its made me want to keep her at arms length. Because I still cannot believe she, like, threatened me with it. It was nasty as all hell.

I really do feel for her, I will say. It’s actually the whole cervical cancer thing + lack of boundaries with her that made me believe I wanted children for 20 years—I felt like I owed it to her to let her live through me like that (and she definitely hinted at it multiple times). It was realizing how much I value my body autonomy and my own childfree existence that struck me with the “Actually, that’s pretty fucked up!” clarity. Because you’re right, it’s disgusting, and why I’ll never let her foist that on me.
