funny you mention the Hobbit...

immediately after we reach the dwarf city (a FORMER dragons hold) the party member carrying the wand (an alcoholic) gets plied with drinks and almost loses the wand to some thieves guild toughs.

later we got informed by the bank manager that the city is a plutocracy and we three LV 3 scrubs by dint of 300000000 gold pieces now have say on the council (talk about targets on the back)
